Disney has released a new TV spot for Lucasfilm's upcoming "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," starring Harrison Ford as the legendary hero archaeologist and directed by James Mangold.

The fifth installment of the iconic Indiana Jones franchise will open in theaters on June 30, 2023.

Starring along with Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge ("Fleabag"), Antonio Banderas ("Pain and Glory"), John Rhys-Davies ("Raiders of the Lost Ark"), Shaunette Renee Wilson ("Black Panther"), Thomas Kretschmann ("Das Boot"), Toby Jones ("Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom"), Boyd Holbrook ("Logan"), Oliver Richters ("Black Widow"), Ethann Isidore ("Mortel") and Mads Mikkelsen ("Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore").

Directed by James Mangold, the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in 1981, is once again composing the score.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to release on digital platforms on August 29, 2023. A release date on Disney+ has not yet been announced.

No kidding. :rolleyes: I would love to know if anyone ever gets fired for this sort of thing? Just look at the pathetic performance of Indy 5 compared to its summer competition. Does Disney just pretend this is fine? Does Bob Iger care enough to fire some folks over this???

We should get a definitive answer on this one next year with Deadline. Most of the other Disney movies are not write downs this year which puts us in the position of not seeing most of them in either his 'losing' or 'winning' competition. Strange World and John Carter were both written down 200 million, which I think are basically the worst Disney performers. This one I think will be a ~150 million write down, ultimately. All of these being everything being tallied up post theatrically included. Unless the D+ streaming rights are shockingly out of whack on this one.

This is just really rough for Disney, and it's going to leave a dent in profits that can't be buffed out. 🫤 Here's the box office update for Indy 5 after this past weekend, and Indy is still operating deeply in the red. With a ridiculously bloated production budget of $300 Million, plus using an extremely conservative global marketing budget of only $100 Million, and using the 60/40 ticket take for domestic/overseas box office, Indy 5 is currently operating at a loss of $253 Million. This weekend's box office is going to be brutal for Indy 5. Oppenheimer will likely take whatever is left of Indy's older customer demographic. https://www.slashfilm.com/1344685/indiana-jones-5-disneys-biggest-box-office-disaster-since-john-carter/ Going into this weekend, Indy 5 is barely.... hanging... on... to a very weak 3rd place. I also think it's in line with the "revenge" travel we saw as destinations began to reopen. Lots of people did revenge movie going last year, and now a lot of people are focusing on other things to do and other areas to spend money. Add in the current cost of living, also a lot of people focusing on free / cheap activities. You are seeing the same thing with live theatre and entertainment, there is a softening happening right now. Lockdown times taught a lot of people that there are alternatives to these experiences, and in the case of movie theatres, you can often wait it out to stream or rent at a later date.
