Taylor Swift is headed to infinity and beyond. The 14-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist has announced a brand-new original song, "I Knew It, I Knew You," written specifically for Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5, arriving in theaters on June 19.
The song — co-written and produced by Swift and longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff — drops on all streaming platforms and digital stores on Friday, June 5. It will also appear on the official Toy Story 5 soundtrack, releasing the same day as the film.
The Song
"I Knew It, I Knew You" is tied directly to Jessie the cowgirl, whose story began back in Toy Story 2. Swift has described the track as a return to her country roots, drawing on the styles that shaped her career as a songwriter.
Toy Story 5 director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton spoke to the connection:
"It's incredible just how meaningful it's been having Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable. The song is so deeply connected to Toy Story. So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet."
Three Exclusive CD Editions
Pre-sales are now live on Swift's website for three exclusive CD editions. Each features:
- The song as it appears in the film
- A special acoustic version
- A special piano version
All three include unique vocals and production.
The Buildup
The announcement didn't come out of nowhere. Over the weekend, mysterious "TS" billboards — a nod to both Toy Storyand Taylor Swift's shared initials — appeared in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Toronto, Mexico City, and London. A Toy Story 5-themed countdown on Swift's official website, alongside additional billboards in New York and Los Angeles, preceded today's reveal.
"I Knew It, I Knew You" releases June 5. Toy Story 5 opens in theaters June 19.
