Universal Kids Resort has confirmed its opening date: July 1, 2025. The park — Universal Destinations & Experiences' first theme park built specifically for younger kids — is located in Frisco, Texas, and tickets are now on sale.

Universal has also released a new flythrough video giving a first look at the park's layout ahead of opening day.

What's Inside the Park

Spread across 20 acres, Universal Kids Resort features seven themed lands:

  • DreamWorks' Shrek's Swamp
  • Jurassic World Adventure Camp
  • Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom
  • Illumination's Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
  • DreamWorks' TrollsFest
  • DreamWorks' Puss in Boots Del Mar
  • Isle of Curiosity featuring DreamWorks' Gabby's Dollhouse

Children under 2 get in free.

Ticket Prices

Ticket Starting Price
1-Day General Admission From $54.99 per person + tax
2-Day General Admission From $73.99 per person + tax
Silver Annual Pass $129.99 per person + tax
Silver Annual Pass with Parking $164.99 per person + tax

Day ticket prices vary by date — the lowest prices shown are available on select dates only. The Silver Annual Pass covers 12 months of general admission with blockout dates and additional restrictions applying to both pass options.

Hotel Packages

The Universal Kids Resort Hotel sits at the park entrance with 300 rooms across four types:

  • Standard Queen
  • Deluxe Queen
  • Signature Queen (sleeps up to 5)
  • Family Suites (sleeps up to 6)

Hotel stays are bookable from June 30. The property includes dining, an outdoor pool, and family amenities.

The "Create Your Own" package lets you bundle hotel, flights, and a specialty 1.5-Day ticket, and adds perks like Early Park Admission, resort-wide charging, and free merchandise delivery.

Universal Kids Resort is a different product from Universal's larger destination parks — smaller in scale, closer to home for Texas families, and built around younger kids and their parents.

From the overheads - the Jurassic park playground for sure has accessibility areas w/ ramps to the overhead walkway areas. But playgrounds are pretty limited for kids in wheelchairs in general, unfortunately. Unless specifically designed with only that in mind.

If you turn off sound and reduce playback to 25% speed, it's almost barely watchable. Y'know how Toon Town in DL created a play area for kids with mobility issues? Well, this fly through show a child in a wheel chair at their play area. Only, nothing as seen in the fly through shows anything suited for a child with mobility issues. I hope this is just an oversight from this Microsoft Paint 3D rendering.

Just from pure happenstance I think this is a good year for this project to open. With gas/jet fuel prices and across the board inflation, the destination theme park resorts (WDW, UOR, DLR) are gonna be hit hard. Staycations are gonna be a thing this year.

Klook is showing starting prices at $65/one day and $86/two day tickets. Starting July 1st. Ages 2+ will need a ticket. Under 2 is free. Assuming July 1st could be the placeholder opening day, but 2+ being charged and those prices are almost assuredly accurate. Particularly because the dates you can buy tickets are variable pricing with July 4th weekend and Labor Day weekend peaking at $92.19/ticket. Other weekends look to be $86.75 while weekdays are $75.85. The $64.95 price starts mid-week September 8th. <2 needing admission makes sense vs <3 at this park. That is in line with Legoland, Sesame Place and Peppa Pig. Pretty sure these are the prices, folks.

Same. A Kids Resort without the holidays and a chance to see Santa feels just wrong.

But this is not a new problem for hotels/hospitality to model around. The notion of continuous demand all the time at major theme parks is the anomaly. Hotels without business travel demand face this kind of pattern all the time. The hotel isn't that big.. 300 rooms is not big even for a suburban business hotel or resort focused area. I was more worried about how seasonal it will really be.

This is my feeling, too. Part of the challenge will be managing expectations, because this really isn't even a kid's park elevated to the standards of existing Universal parks as much as a kid's park around the level of Sesame Place just with IPs to which Universal owns the rights. I would also note that all the discussions around people spending the night revolve around weekend trips. One would hope they have worked out the numbers such that weekend and holiday occupancy is enough to carry the hotel through the rest of the week/year.

I could see it becoming the main destination to families expecting a UOR-level experience. The marketing will have to be clear on what the park offers.

Hehe, on Fridays its split between the Winstar& Border up I35 and the 7 in Shreveport/Bossier out I20 to see which has the greater traffic flow.

Yep. It is pretty normal to drive within the Texas triangle. DFW - Houston - San Antonio.

networkpro30 days ago

Thats not a long drive in Texas. The whole state scales much differently that the tight packed warrens of the NE.
