First Look: Universal Celestial Goodnight at Epic Universe
Posted: Tuesday July 7, 2026 9:58am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Universal Celestial Goodnight makes its debut tonight at Universal Epic Universe. The new nighttime spectacular runs at park close in Celestial Park.

The show uses nearly 600 synchronized light fixtures, more than 350 fountains and seven million LED lights.

Universal Celestial Goodnight pulls elements from each of the park's five portals:

  • SUPER NINTENDO WORLD
  • How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk
  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic
  • Dark Universe

The show closes with a fireworks finale.

Universal Nights Coming This Fall

Universal is also adding a new after-hours event called Universal Nights. It debuts Saturday, October 3, with a second date Saturday, October 17.

Universal Nights is a limited-capacity party that gives you nighttime access to Epic Universe, including:

  • Attractions
  • Entertainment
  • Character interactions
  • Complimentary specialty snacks and beverages

The event runs from 9:00pm to midnight, but you can get into the park as early as 7:00pm — enough time to catch Universal Celestial Goodnight before the party starts.

Tickets go on sale August 13, starting at $179.99 plus tax per person. Universal says more details are coming in the weeks ahead.

That one's a joint venture with a partner that has seemingly deep pockets. It should be fine.

I'm wondering about Beijing's future, which had rumors of major expansion plans to Uni's biggest park, with potential 2nd gate in the pipeline (?) among other projects there. I'm having a hard time feeling hopeful about any of this after the big corporate news last month. The timing of it all, just a year after opening EU... it's a shock.

The layoffs primarily affected salaried non-guest facing roles - just like at Disney, those are the absolutely last people they get rid of. Currently they are mainly hiring for hourly park roles, and salaried roles that the consultants determined were needed.

They're seemingly still hiring for quite a bit park-wise however. Not as much as I'd probably expect, but not a terrible pace.

I'm not saying it won't happen. But corporate America is doing its thing right now. There's no reason that McKinsey and Bain consultants should be at the parks, studios, and offices, but they're there.

Doesn’t bode well for the expansions Epic desperately needs. Meanwhile, they are stuck building a coaster in USF and a new land at IoA. I doubt that leaves much for Epic.

It’s already happening on the ground. There have been layoffs at the parks and in other divisions of the company that have not made the news, and they have brought in restructuring consultants across the entirety of it.

I don’t know what you mean by that. Are you suggesting Comcast will push the new NBCU to reduce costs in order to make the parks more attractive to a potential bidder?

So for that one year, let's assume the parks are on their own.

Hopefully No Finale Fireworks was just weather related...... I know TDO had to deal with Lightning tonight.....

For clarity I was referring to the parade, myself. I’m spoiler-ish free on the night show. I hope it is better done than the parades weird sound mix and that sounds to be the case from you. 😊

I generally concur with everyone that it's a good addition and solid overall, but your first few points about it being a little repetitive also stood out to me. Once it gets going, you very quickly see all their moves and they mostly seem to just repeat them until the end of the show. I will also say another point against using the hotel as the backdrop to the park is that it is not especially easy to integrate it into the show as you can't make people turn off the lights in their room. It would probably be a waste for them to project too much detail beyond colours an basic shapes onto the hotel for that reason as you never know how many rooms will be lit up on a given evening.
