Disney Skyliner to Close for Maintenance in Early 2028

Disney has confirmed a new closure date for Disney Skyliner: January 24 through February 2, 2028. This is in addition to the previously announced 2027 closure, running January 24-30.

During both closures, complimentary bus transportation will be available to guests at Disney's Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, Art of Animation Resort, and Pop Century Resort, running to Epcot and Hollywood Studios in place of the gondolas.

The 2028 window is about two days longer than the 2027 closure, but both follow the pattern of brief annual maintenance Disney Skyliner has had for most of its history, typically in late January.

About Disney Skyliner

Disney Skyliner is Walt Disney World's aerial gondola system, connecting several resort hotels directly to two theme parks. Disney announced the project on July 15, 2017, and construction began in early 2018, with the first support towers going up at Pop Century that March.

The system spans about 6 miles across three routes, with Caribbean Beach Resort acting as the hub where you transfer between lines. The five stations are:

• Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
• Disney's Pop Century Resort / Art of Animation Resort
• Disney's Riviera Resort
• Disney's Hollywood Studios
• Epcot International Gateway

Each of the 300 gondola cabins holds up to 10 guests. Ride times run from 5 to 6 minutes on the shorter routes, up to about 15 minutes between Caribbean Beach and Epcot.

Many cabins carry character and film-themed wraps, including designs for Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Lilo & Stitch, Moana, Peter Pan, The Princess and the Frog, Zootopia, Coco, The Haunted Mansion, Monsters Inc., and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Since then September 2019 opening, the system has closed for brief annual maintenance almost every January, with 2025 the one exception when it stayed open all month.

• 2024: January 16-21 (the Riviera Resort and Epcot International Gateway route stayed closed through January 27)
