Walt Disney World Monorail Gets Updated Narration
The Express monorail has new narration, including an updated no-smoking announcement that now covers vaping. The change follows the death of longtime voice Tom Kane earlier this year.

The Walt Disney World monorail system has updated narration tracks playing across all three beams — Express, Resort, and EPCOT. The change comes shortly after the death of Tom Kane, who has been the voice of the monorail since April 2012.

The most notable update on all three routes is the addition of vaping to the no-smoking announcement. Guests now hear: "For the comfort of others, no smoking or vaping please, thank you."

The EPCOT beam has seen the most significant changes:

  • A Walt Disney quote has been added on the approach to EPCOT: "We call it Epcot, spelled E-P-C-O-T, Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow."
  • Soarin' is now referred to simply as "Soarin'" — dropping references to specific versions like Soarin' Around the World or Soarin' Across America.
  • The mention of the Play Pavilion has been removed. The project was cancelled without ever opening.
  • The Pixar Short Film Festival has also been dropped from the narration.

The classic Jack Wagner "Please stand clear of the doors. Por favor manténganse alejado de las puertas" announcement isn't consistent — it was absent on our ride today but was playing yesterday.

You can hear the new narration voice in the video below from the Express beam.

It's not clear how Disney made the change. Kane sadly passed away earlier this year following complications from a stroke he suffered in late 2020. Whether the updated track uses a new voice actor or was produced using generative AI is unknown at this point.

Wow. They really gutted it.
Why didn't they just have the narrator say, get on, move over, here's a thing, DVC, get your kids, get off.

I was hoping it was Corey Booker welcoming New Jerseyans, who make up the majority of guests to WDW.

Sounds just like Tom Kane. It's definitely appears to be AI generated based on his voice profile. Hopefully they got the permission of the family.

When the spiel works, it's definitely passable.

Also, the continued use of "Ladies and Gentlemen" is an interesting departure from the transition to using the "Friends" terminology.

They should just get Samuel L. Jackson to be the new narrator.
it's okay, but obvious its all ai/bot, whatever one wants to call it. Has no life to it, literally..the slurring of the Contemporary is pretty bad among a few other words..,,they could have put some more effort into this like a real human? I guess thats asking too much now...........a couple weeks ago the iconic please stand clear of the doors etc wasn't playing at all around the resort loop, I figured it had been removed.
Robotic and flat.
Ladies and Gentlemen??
Is “Please stand clear of the door” still there?

Don’t know if it’s AI or not, but regardless this script is really really bad. Not a single attraction on the World Discovery side of the park is named but Imagination Land and Seas are all called out with specific details. Even those details aren’t great though, Imagination is particularly bad and feels like word salad.
