The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin has announced a $15,000 donation to Wounded Warrior Project, marking the second year the Food & Wine Classic has partnered with the nonprofit during National Veterans and Military Families Month. The check presentation took place at the close of the resort's two-night event, which wrapped its 16th year earlier this month.
Area General Manager Sean Verney presented the donation to Savannah Simmons, Community Fundraising Manager for Wounded Warrior Project, and Sharona Young, a veteran and program beneficiary. The funds represent proceeds from the Food & Wine Classic and reflect the resort's ongoing commitment to supporting organizations that serve the Central Florida community.
Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Jacksonville, Wounded Warrior Project supports veterans who served after September 11, 2001, and experienced a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound during or after their service. The organization provides free programs in areas such as mental health, long-term rehabilitative care, physical wellness, employment support, and peer connection - programs designed to help veterans and their families rebuild a sense of stability and purpose.
