Inside the New Treehouse Villas at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort

Disney has shared a detailed first look inside the newly refurbished Treehouse Villas at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, and the redesign goes well beyond a standard room update.

The reimagined villas are set to debut over the coming months, with the full renovation expected to be completed later this year.

The new look draws from New England-style craftsmanship and the Arts and Crafts movement, tying the Treehouse Villas more closely to the wider aesthetic of Saratoga Springs Resort.

Natural materials are central to the refresh — wood and stone finishes feature throughout, grounding the spaces and reinforcing the connection to the wooded setting along the Sassagoula River. A new color palette runs across the rooms, giving the villas a warmer, more cohesive feel than before.

Each villa sleeps up to nine guests and has been fitted with all-new finishes, furniture, and fixtures throughout. The living areas, dining spaces, and private decks have all been updated.

Amenities remain the same — you still get a full kitchen and an in-room washer and dryer — but everything around them has been replaced.

Disney storytelling is woven into the new look at every level, and if you take the time to look closely, there's a lot to find.

More than a dozen nature scenes and characters from Disney Animation films and shorts appear across the villas, with stories brought to life through:

  • Wall murals and fine art paintingsThe Fox and the Hound and Sleeping Beauty are both featured
  • Textiles — throw pillows, lampshades, and soft furnishings carry botanical and animal motifs inspired by classic characters
  • Furnishings and architecture — familiar friends from Cinderella appear carved into the furniture and tucked into the architectural details above

Disney says the Imagineering team looked across 100 years of Disney animation to shape this approach, choosing characters and stories that feel at home in a woodland setting.

The refurbishment is running in phases, with the first reimagined villas already beginning to debut. The full renovation is expected to be complete later in 2026. Units are being refreshed in clusters, so availability may vary as work continues.

Yikes! We were there when they were just reopened about 15 years ago. They were GORGEOUS. Rustic, knotty log furniture with bronze accents. The walk in shower and master bath alone was amazing. We actually renovated our home and mirrored this concept. I don't care for this new look, UGH!!!!

I agree. Before I was very nervous we were gonna get a Fort Wilderness cabin update. But this refurb was very balanced and they kept the majority of it the same.

I’m glad they kept some of the life and theming and soul. Maybe they are finally getting it

Not always a bad thing though. With some of the very stale and sterile updates we have gotten, sure they look modern and shiny but they have no soul. There is still some soul left in these villas based on what I can see.

Much brighter than it used to be when we stayed 2 years ago. Before it was dark and outdated. I was kind of hoping that they would have gotten rid of that green carpet! they did cover over the stone floor with the wood look. I'd stay there again.

I know they were trying to retain the rustic woodland vibe but if you'd told me these were done 5-10 years ago I'd believe you, it just doesn't really feel like an update.

I guess they finally figured out that people want somewhere between hospital room and Cracker Barrel in regards to room design.

It looks oddly "older" to me....

The pictures don't look as bad as that Instagram reel they put out. The shower in the main bathroom is an improvement. I still dislike the white being used on the ceilings and walls. But thank goodness they are dropping movie IP all over the place. If not for that, I would never, ever know I'm in a Disney resort room.

The decor is just part of it. I believe this is a full refurb, so all appliances and furniture will be swapped out for new. Possibly new lighting etc.

They don’t look that different what the hell to so long

The treehouses will never be as unique and fun as they were originally when part of the Disney Institute. My grown daughters still talk about how fun it was to sleep in the bunk beds in the tree trunk, and taking the spiral staircase in the tree trunk in the middle of the main level, down to that room.

Maybe more will come but nothing in the brief first look sells it to me. We've thought about a tree house stay and maybe one day it will happen. Adding some characters will give it more of a Disney feel. Wish they had named which characters will be considered being added.
