Construction crews have reached a major milestone this week at the new Disney Vacation Club Tower in Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

A large vertical wall has been erected on a portion of the foundation.

The new DVC tower at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort has a planned opening in 2024.

I actually liked the Papeete Bay Verandah just as much. Can we have that back, please? 'Ohana is a sad shell of its former self.

I have to admit, this is what I call synergy! Using D+ to sell DVC 😉😉😉

when discussing the Riviera By Marriott tm, it is funny that the only thing people seem to say about it is the Skyliner and the mosaic... If you are designing a hotel that is supposed to be themed to the European Riviera and everyone says I like the skyline and the Mosaic.... I think they did something wrong. I have stayed there...we had a 3 bedroom unit which was HUGE...and very well appointed. The Skyliner was great...and I loved the mosaic... everything else was OK. nondescript Marriott hotel... it certainly doesn't feel like a Disney resort.... What a shame they never added a Skyliner link to Disney Springs or at least from Saratoga Springs to link up to the EPCOT line. No disrespect to the Bus drivers and transportation personnel, but even a newer nicer hotel would be a hard sell for me without better transportation than the bus system... Seems to me that a company that was dreaming of innovative transport systems for the future and came up with a few that worked, can't seem to do any better now than buses or a skyline system that shuts down during the frequent storms in Florida...

If I was vacation club I would always stay at AKL!!! I miss the days of legit good passholder rates there.

For us, the Skyliner at Riviera was a big plus.

Honestly…I wouldn’t wast the points at riviera if it’s pretty close to poly and GF…and the older ones are still by far a better deal if available.

Not a fan of the design of Riviera, but would like to try staying there at some point. My problem with RIV has nothing to do with design but the point charts. I treasure my time at WDW and try to maximize my points. So my family stays a lot at AKL, BLT, and SSR. We mix in an occasional stay at Boadwalk or Boulder Ridge. All are friendly points charts. Never have I stayed at Floridian as I do not consider it a friendly points charts.

At least the Riveria gets the benefit of a compact tower hotel. The Polynesian tower you have to walk a decent amount to quick serve, trader Sam’s, the coffee bar, the various transportation options, etc. and you have the crowds from the rest of the hotel as well. At Riveria - you at least have a nice compact tower with everything right there. Plus, that mosaic art is really nice - nicer than anything at the poly tower! Trust me, I’m not a big fan of the Riveria by mariott style - but at least I can see some positives there.

that is pretty much a great description of the Riviera... I guess they just don't care about theme anymore for the hotels...I don't believe that people with more money would prefer to not have a unique experience and would prefer a normal Marriott...That seems to come up as the excuse whenever they do something like this... I believe the vast majority of guests would prefer a beautifully themed destination resort...someplace unlike what they can experience in their own town or any other vacation spot in the world...

We took all the ambiance of an Embassy Suites, added a dash of timeshare hell with some pixie dust, and the end result is a bland uninspired building for adoring Disney adults.

Yes, that comes under the heading Once Upon A Time.

Aha, so the Magic is BEHIND the tower! I knew there was a reason I couldn't find it!

IMHO, what was once a very popular and fun Polynesian Luau The Polynesian Revue ( Closer to what you find in the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie)> Spirit of Aloha ( Insert too much Stitch and somehow make 15 million square miles neighborly family)
