AC Outage at Disney's Wilderness Lodge Impacts Rooms, Lobby, and Dining During Heat Advisory
An AC outage at Wilderness Lodge is affecting guest rooms, the lobby, and both table service restaurants during a heat advisory with feels-like temps topping 110°F.

An air conditioning outage that began yesterday at Disney's Wilderness Lodge is having a wide impact across the resort, affecting guest rooms, the lobby, and two table service restaurants. According to first-hand reports, Disney is now offering compensation to affected guests.

Both Whispering Canyon Cafe and Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White are closed for the day. Roaring Fork, the resort's quick service location, remains open.

What's closed:

  • Whispering Canyon Cafe (table service)
  • Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White (table service)

What's open:

  • Roaring Fork (quick service)

The outage isn't limited to the dining areas. Guest rooms and the lobby are also affected. Boulder Ridge, the Disney Vacation Club wing of the resort, appears to be unaffected.

According to guests currently at the resort, Disney is taking steps to accommodate those affected. Where possible, guests are being moved to alternative resorts. Those who remain are being offered free nights as compensation.

The timing is particularly bad. Walt Disney World is currently under a heat advisory, with feels-like temperatures topping 110°F. Losing air conditioning in guest rooms during an extreme heat event is a serious concern.

There's no word yet on when the restaurants will reopen or when the AC issue will be resolved.

I often find myself pondering, “If one cannot acquire ketchup at the Wilderness Lodge, then for what reason is there for the existence of the Walt Disney World Resort to continue?”.

Say it isn't so. Oh, the humanity.

After no electricity and no water, then, comes... no ketchup!!

Poor Wilderness Lodge. We love that resort but it hasn't had a good few months. I don't see that continuing but just the "trouble runs in threes".

If they still had fountains they could rent you a bucket and you could fetch you own water --Disney a golden opportunity to make $$$$$$ --there is always a silver lining

At least the resort is trying living up to the Wilderness part of its name. Interactive theming.

Cash guests are being offered a move. Not everyone accepted. DVC members who just arrived yesterday were moved. But there just isn’t the capacity to move everyone else, and members aren’t going to accept a move to SSR immediately, without a significant points refund.

Also, what more do you want from Disney? I mean, they’re handing out bottled water so that people can flush the toilets at the pool. That’s the Disney Difference!
