Following a lengthy demolition project, the rebuilding of the monorail station and front of the Great Ceremonial House is underway at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

Vertical columns can be seen rising from newly poured concrete footers on either side of the monorail beam.

The work is planned to be completed for a summer reopening of the entire resort.

Oh” boy! Is the Queen coming….??

It looks better than the All Star resorts... I mean Contemporary's.

Those lighted slabs (which were the kinda thing that makes the Bobs just look obtuse) probably cost them $1.67 of electricity (solar generated) per year and could not be tolerated by accounting. No ROI

Ya know what would've been cool. If they had to stick with the concrete pillars so badly - why not integrate fiber optics tiki designs like this INTO the concrete and then light it up at night. Like they had on the walkways at Epcot before they ripped it out...

Option E - All of the above!

HauntedPirateApr 01, 2022

Option D - Pay even more and glorify every aspect!

SirwalterraleighApr 01, 2022

That’s option “C”… Dusters always pick “D”

HauntedPirateApr 01, 2022

Why do we have to pick, can't it be both??? :D

SkywiseApr 01, 2022

Yawn. The drawings make the pillars look like carved wooden tiki beams. This looks like street graffiti on a city street corner.

SirwalterraleighApr 01, 2022

Lol…I assume because it looks stupid for $700 a night? Or because it’s not conducive to selling $250 points? Take your pick

They have the creative talent, staff and supplies to do this the right way...If I didn't know better I would say they were just punking everyone with the ridiculously undersized stencils... but seriously...The white plastic beachballs in a net, painted brown concrete and now this? Can they not follow their own concept art? If they columns had the large full wrap graphics at least it would have taken away from the lack of texture...

LSLSMar 31, 2022

Lol, that can't be done. A couple random squares of designs slapped on and we gave theming?

Didn’t seem shiny to me either

helenabearMar 31, 2022

They didn't seem shiny in person... but I was only out there a couple times a week or so ago (like to retrieve my groceries from BS)
