Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Dock Maintenance June 2026
Posted: Friday June 5, 2026 10:21am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Work at the Disney's Polynesian Village Resort boat dock is wrapping up, with the dock set to reopen tomorrow following routine maintenance that included a full replacement of the decking.

Photos from the dock show the completed work, with brand new timber decking running the full length of the boardwalk out to the covered boat landing. The dock was closed from May 11 through June 5 as part of the maintenance window.

Signage at the dock currently directs guests to use the Walt Disney World Monorail as boat service remains temporarily unavailable, but that changes tomorrow when boat transportation to Magic Kingdom resumes.

The dock refurbishment is part of ongoing work at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows that continues through 2026, which also includes a reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway and bus area.

I’m losing it. I thought they replaced the ropes on the side with the netting. I forgot that’s been like that for years.

Just imagine that is Koa wood and not PT SYP. It wood have the flavor of the islands and wood not look much different

Yes, I too prefer grey weathered warped pressure treated lumber to the fresh new look.

It’s…just wood. Like it was before. What pray tell do you think docks are made out of?

wdwmagicJun 06, 2026

it will weather pretty quickly and look more fitting.

Sir_CliffJun 06, 2026

What have they changed other than replacing the decking?

ScuttleJun 06, 2026

Looks terrible imo.

Can’t help but wonder if it’s intentional so they don’t scare anyone away. I agree it’s not fair to guests though. Far bigger factor at Wilderness than the Poly though in my opinion.

Careful! You’ll be accused of pearl clutching!!! Haha. But yes I agree. I intentionally did not stay at Pop because of scheduled skyliner maintenance.

They really need to get better at providing way longer notice for these. Thats Wilderness and Poly that have now both only had a few weeks notice. Bit crummy if you're staying there and don't know about it as normally any sort of maintenance is listed on the booking pages prior to paying.
