Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom bridge construction - October 2019
Posted: Tuesday October 29, 2019 10:51am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Work continues on the new bridge that will link Disney's Grand Floridian Resort to the Magic Kingdom.

The swing bridge will be able to rotate on its mount (seen on the right side of the image above), allowing passage of the Water Pageant floats as they enter and exit the storage canal.

The addition of the bridge comes at a time when Walt Disney World is looking to improve the arrival experience at each park and offer more ways to move around property.

Awesome, just left yesterday and they were preparing the walkway. Missed it by a few days!

Thanks! Let's hope they are on schedule with late Spring!

Any thoughts on whether it will be open by December?

Are the renovation materials for the main building in the same location? Or will those be staged elsewhere?

Wonder how much longer it will be closed. They seem to be rapidly concluding exterior construction on Sago Cay.

This being closed is such a bummer - I was super looking forward to using this on my upcoming trip. I had been wondering why no one was taking it in some videos I was watching!

I'm hoping the walkway is available for my December trip!

TuvaluApr 10, 2023

It’s not. The walkway is closed for construction in the outer building closest to it. It would be unsafe to have guests in that area now. Nothing is being done to the walkway itself. I personally witnessed the site on Thursday.

FutureCEOApr 10, 2023

I wouldn't be surprised if the walkway was a pile of dirt right now.
