The Grand Floridian gingerbread house is not coming back. WDWMAGIC has learned the iconic display has been permanently retired from Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Something new is coming in its place. Disney's culinary teams will create miniature holiday displays for the resort. More details — including information about gingerbread displays at other Walt Disney World resorts — will be shared later this year.

The End of a Tradition

The Grand Floridian gingerbread house was absent during the 2025 holiday season due to the resort's ongoing lobby refurbishment. WDWMAGIC has now learned that absence is permanent — the life-sized display will not return.

The tradition dates back to 1999 and last appeared during the 2024 season, which marked its 25th anniversary.

Yeah, GF is off our list now, too. It used to be our favorite resort and we would stay there on our trip, but now I think we will check out yacht club or beach club or even one of the Universal resorts. What absolute stupidity. It’s like the Peabody Memphis getting rid of the ducks because they cause too much crowds!

The lack of a gingerbread house to look at for a minute and move on with my life is being taken away!! Except, of course, for the GBH at the Contemporary. And the one at BoardWalk Inn. And Beach Club. And Animal Kingdom Lodge. And Wilderness Lodge. And EPCOT. And all the smaller ones scattered throughout the GF lobby. But other than that, no gingerbread house!!!

Oh I know….. have a $50 drink at the bar include a gingerbread shingle - but there is not other possible way to buy the gingerbread shingle even if you don’t drink for personal, religious, or medical reasons. That is a great way to push up the alcohol sales and based on beak and barrel there are plenty of fans who will defend the decision!!!

lol sell more to the drunks who hang out in the lobby all day. I don’t even care about GF anymore, I almost never go. I wasn’t impressed by the Enchanted Rose. Stayed at GF one time but wasn’t impressed at all for the price. I wish the orchestra would return and it’s sad they cut that out. Considering the cost, cutting out one of the most magnificent displays is certainly a choice. But at the same time, influencers killed GBH across the resort. It used to be a fun thing to do on the side, but it’s such a madhouse to go to any of the deluxe resorts that I’ve had no desire to do it.

Could've said "The space taken up by the Gingerbread house would take away potential customers of our stupid bar we put in there because serving overpriced drinks is more profitable".
