Concrete for the pool.
Shocked that it's being handled so low-key with the cement trucks going in and out of IG. Knowing Disney you'd expect them to have an army of Security CM shielding guests from the construction equipment.

↩ replying to DisorbustI believe they have a special filtration setup that would cost money to replace, and of course taking away the sand would make the pool less unique too. I don’t know as though they’d ever want to get rid of it.

The "news" site reports that they have started filling the pools with water.

Yes, the one with the most sand (where kids can make sand castles) is largely done.
There was some unexpected plumbing work with this project but it should certainly reopen by June 30.

More sand is being added to the lazy river and connected pool. The hot tubs are mostly filled.

Back in November, we booked a stay at YC for June 22-25. We have never stayed there, but we always go to Beaches and Cream. The kids always rave about the pool, so the primary reason for booking there was the pool. We had no idea that the pool might be closed, and it doesn't look like it was scheduled to be closed at time of booking.
I got an email on 4/24 saying the pool will be unavailable for our stay. I'm pretty furious. There's no excuse for a pool to be closed in the summer.
