Disney Brings Lakeshore Lodge to NYC With 3D Street Mural at Flatiron Plaza
A 3D street mural by artist Tracy Lee Stum has appeared at Flatiron Plaza in NYC, previewing Lakeshore Lodge's Daydream River. Reservations open October 8.

Disney is promoting its upcoming Walt Disney World resort in the heart of Manhattan today. A large-scale 3D street mural has appeared at the corner of 23rd Street and 5th Avenue in Flatiron Plaza, giving New Yorkers a preview of Disney's Lakeshore Lodge ahead of reservations opening next week.

The installation, created by acclaimed street muralist Tracy Lee Stum, depicts Daydream River — the resort's lazy river — as a 3D chalk art piece that visitors can step into and photograph. Stum is known for her colorful interactive street murals and holds a 2006 Guinness World Record for the largest chalk painting by an individual.

The activation runs today, October 2, from 10am to 5pm at Flatiron Plaza. Branded Lakeshore Lodge pool floats are placed on the mural, and an A-frame Lake House structure is set up alongside the installation as a photo opportunity.

Disney's Lakeshore Lodge opens July 1, 2027 at Walt Disney World Resort on the shores of Bay Lake. Reservations open to Disney Vacation Club members on October 6, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders on October 7, and all guests on October 8 online or by calling (407) 934-7639.

It has less ‘rooms’ than Fort Wilderness, Poly and Grand Flo. Nearly the same as Contemporary. Significantly less than DAK which your second posting referred to. It is not sharing a boat launch with Wilderness Lodge.

I doubt it will be as busy as the monorail resorts that see a significant amount of foot traffic.
Everyone is losing me with Destino. That’s by far the worst effort of the lot that started this current design trend. It’s also the most offensively Vegas-y and the most ill proportioned.

I have brought this up before in this thread. I'm quite curious to know what the route will be for guests to drive up to this hotel.

I believe there was some expansion work at the WL security gate. I’m guessing that will be the main access point but several are curious about access as well.

Someone within the team needed an excuse to spend some time in NYC I guess ;)
Trying to do anything they can to justify the mistake by the lake.

Wait... you misspelled "greatest themed resort built in the last 25 years".
Went by the NYC "activation" yesterday - I think there was also a closed "creators" lunch at a nearby restaurant too
Maybe if any fiberoptics are left over from the lobby they can send them to Epcot.
Natacha Rafalski recently visited Disney's Lakeshore Lodge with Joe Schott and shared a couple photos:
You just have to laugh at the pristine work boots, vests, and gloves, and shiny hard hats.
I wounder if the DVC spreadsheeters think there is a lot of folks in NYC that is interested in buying this DVC?
Flatiron Plaza is located about 1 to 1.4 miles south of Times Square. Do they think they will get enough foot traffic?

Again, this could have been just an excuse for a trip to NYC for the DVC big wigs.

Same. Agreed on all points. It’s my least favourite of all the recent towers and the “coldest” interior. It also ruined a classic resort lobby.
It’s easily the ugliest of all of them.
