Disney begins selling cloth face masks featuring Disney characters

Apr 30, 2020 in "The Walt Disney Company"

Disney is now offering a range of cloth face masks to wear as part of the CDC's recomendations to help combat the spread of COVID-19.

As part of the product launch, Disney is donating one million cloth face masks for children and families in underserved and vulnerable communities across the U.S., including California and Florida, that will be distributed by MedShare. Disney will also donate all profits from the sales in the U.S. of Disney’s cloth face masks to Medshare, up to $1 million, now through September 30, 2020.

The cloth face masks are available for $19.99 for a four-pack, and feature a wide range of fan favorite characters, including: Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, Anna and Elsa, Woody and Buzz Lightyear, The Avengers and Baby Yoda.

Masks are machine washable cold, and made of polyester, cotton and elastane.

You can pre-order the cloth face masks – available in small, medium, and large sizes – now on shopDisney.com in the U.S., for estimated shipping in mid-June.

It is largely expected that masks will be required during the early phases of Walt Disney World's reopening.

Yeah I think this is likely

I wonder if it’s because they qualify for most discounts now? $9.99 seems like an appropriate Disney price.

HcalvertNov 02, 2020

Is this at the parks? On ShopDisney they are 4 for $19.99, 2 for $11.99, or a new style that is $13.99 each.

Apparently prices are now $9.99 per mask. It's both a shocking 60% price increase, and kind of a shock they weren't already $10...

Which version of the masks did you get? (or pattern) The newer ones that came out with Halloween designs are made slightly different from what I got in the first release. They're also polyester instead of cotton. The fit seems a little larger but still fit my face. The ear loops don't seem to tug at my ears as much b/c they're also every so slightly longer. The polyester makes for a lighter wear, but it's already cooled here in MD, so I can't speak to the "trapped" humidity people speak to with Polyester masks (since it won't absorb it like cotton). The cut/sizing of them was also more consistent on this batch, of the 4 I got (Halloween and NBC) they were all the same size. If I recall when I compared them to the first sets I got, they were more about the size of the largest of the large I got (so maybe that means the quality control issue was really in the ones that are smaller the issue is they were sewn wrong) I picked up some of the Christmas ones when I was at the disney store the other week, but I haven't broken those out yet, gotta get through Halloween first

I usually put them in the dryer for a short while, then hang them up to finish.!!!

I wash all the masks we have - Disney and not Disney. I hang to dry. I don't put any of our cloth masks in the dryer.

We got the masks. Measured faces before ordering however they were still on the small side. The Large mask fits my face fine but is a bit tight on the ear loops....hurts my ears if I wear it too long. All the other masks we have the loops are elastic so they stretch and don't pull so much so this is disappointing. I would say they run small.

If you’re going to Disney Springs, dot go to world of Disney. They’re not there. Go to Marketplace.

I did not send back, nor did they ask me to send them back.

Chip ChippersonAug 25, 2020

I've been hanging them to dry overnight and it's worked out well. All of our Disney masks fit fine, thankfully.

disneygeek90Aug 24, 2020

Be careful washing them. I had a random Large that was more like an XL but after a wash and in the dryer it did shrink a bit. For the ones already fitting well, I'm not putting them in the dryer.

Crazy to see how it varies by the different masks, the Mickey and Minnie ones are the same size just bigger ear loops. Maybe because I haven't washed either the large or extra large yet?
