Editor's note: This article has been updated since first publication. The feature has since been removed from the site and does not appear to represent the final version guests will see when it launches.

An AI-powered search feature appeared briefly on the Walt Disney World website this morning, giving guests an unplanned first look at how the resort may handle trip-planning questions in the future.

The feature, labeled "AI Overview," appeared at the top of search results on DisneyWorld.com before being removed. It carried a "Cast Preview" tag, indicating it was not intended for public view.

What the AI Overview looked like

The AI Overview appeared at the top of search results, above standard listings. When triggered, it displayed an AI-generated response before showing traditional results below.

In screenshots captured this morning, the AI responded to a search query by stating: "I'm still learning and don't have information on that topic right now, but I can help with most food and beverage questions."

A tooltip visible in one of the screenshots also carried a disclaimer: "AI can make mistakes. Please verify important details with a Cast Member."

Part of a broader planning push

The AI Overview fits within a wider effort by Walt Disney World to make trip planning simpler for guests. The resort has been making changes to how guests plan and book their vacations, with a focus on reducing complexity and giving guests more confidence ahead of their visits.

Recent changes to the My Disney Experience app and the Walt Disney World website have already produced improvements in guest satisfaction, with better booking flows, clearer presentation of plans, and reduced day-of decision pressure all cited as contributing factors.

More changes coming

New features are on the way for both the My Disney Experience app and the Walt Disney World website, expected to arrive over the coming months.

For the app, changes include:

  • Spanish language translations
  • A redesigned homepage bringing trip details, travel party information, and planning steps together
  • A new checklist feature showing guests what still needs to be done before arrival
  • A simpler process for linking family and friends
  • Improved search

For the website, Disney is working on a new vacation planning experience that will make it easier to compare options, check rates across different dates, and find a visit that fits your needs.

The AI Overview feature, when it does launch in its final form, appears set to be part of this broader update to how guests plan and book directly through Disney's own platforms.

No timeline has been confirmed for when the AI feature will be ready for guests.

It's actually a good idea! In the far future there will be nothing left of humanity, just a bunch of AI. James Cameron predicted it!

Disney - "How can we make a garbage website even worse? I know, let's add AI!!" The public - 👀😵‍💫👀

Ask the AI clanker if it knows what the Disney Difference is?

Another thing to slow page loading. I wonder if there will be a "we're working on it" splash to entertain you while it grinds away before putting up the "404 page not found" result?

You can’t cut cost where there was no previous investment, their IT infrastructure has always been hot garbage

HakunaMatata89Jun 14, 2026

more cost cutting measures. I like it.

Thanks. I've had Plan b, c, and d for a while lined up in case this kind of thing happened (my manager and I have had other disagreements and he's possibly done illegal things on top of it so I'm not too upset)

They have a hard enough time getting the website to act right most of the time. This has 💩 written all over it.

Sorry to hear you're being pushed out for this. I am praying this bubble bursts. AI has a place, but as a supplement to human work and interaction, not replacement.

Has anyone, even once, ever said "you know what would make Disney's web site better -- an AI chatbot"? I very seriously doubt it. These companies keep pushing and pushing and pushing this stuff, and people are almost universally rejecting it. So much so that companies like Microsoft have had to reverse course and remove some of the AI prompts from places where they had originally inserted them. I know AI is going to be with us and is going to be a part of our lives now; no question. However, I am really hopeful like we have with other emerging technologies where the bubble is going to burst to the extent that it becomes just an ordinary thing that is used where it is needed and not shoved into every conceivable space regardless of what the customers actually want. I know lots of people are concerned about AI in the filmmaking world, but thinking about Disney, I am actually way more concerned about the ways they are going to try to shove it into the parks, the apps, and the customer service.

or asking an automated AI chatbot for a Chevrolet dealer what the best pickup truck to buy and it suggests Toyotas 🤣 As someone who's basically being pushed out of my job for this exact reason (AI taking over our knowledge base/calls), I have no sympathy for them if it fails

Agreed, not like some of these stories you hear where you can convince the support help bot to offer coding advice on a website for dog food
