Ever since the introduction of FastPass+ there has been speculation that Disney will one day begin selling additional FastPass+, and it looks like this week will see that service introduced.

Disney is yet to officially announce the pilot program, but here are the details as we understand them.

Beginning Friday January 12 2018, guests staying in eligible rooms at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels will be able to purchase a new theme park extra that includes additional FastPass+ benefits and preferred viewing opportunities for nighttime spectaculars.

For $50 plus tax per guest per day, guests staying in eligible rooms who have purchased a 3 day or longer theme park ticket or an annual pass are able to purchase a theme park extra to receive the following:

  • Three additional FastPass+ selections per day. FastPass+ attractions and entertainment experiences, the number of selections you can make and available arrival windows are limited.

  • The opportunity to reserve these three additional FastPass+ selections in more than one theme park when a valid Park Hopper option is also purchased with the ticket.

  • A booking window of up to 90 days in advance for these three additional FastPass+ selections and the ability to book them at multiple top-tier attractions. Guests may not repeat the same FastPass+ attraction during a single day.

  • Preferred viewing location for nighttime spectaculars, one per day, including Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom Park, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot, Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Prices are higher than ever for the private tours and they have a much wider variety of pre-set VIP itineraries to save cost (i.e. VIP tours to just hit thrill rides, etc).

Nobody is missing your point. It’s just not a good point.

ChessivFeb 06, 2018

No it doesn’t. You’re just missing the point. Honestly I should have known better than to post in a thread like this anyway. Back to just reading updates on the park projects =)

boredom Oh, were you not asking me?

MisterPenguinFeb 05, 2018

And you make dozens of posts daily on a WDW fan site because....?

I love the current fast pass system cause I know the ins and outs of it and can get on tons of attractions using it, but i agree for the guest who doesn’t know how to manipulate it that it has made their experience worse. I personally actually find planning my vacation on the app in advance as far as rides and restaurants go a fun experience, but most do not

They need to align all of their booking windows. That would simplify a majority of the angst. Not sure why that's so hard for them.

Man we've done this before but for the benefit of people who may not know, I guess we're going to have to continue to do it: "Star Wars will not open until 2021." Active voice. Your opinion. Active voice. Untrue fact. A lie. Active voice. Untrue fact. A lie. You are welcome to your opinion and it's easy to laugh that off in the same vein as irrational optimism or a visceral hate of the Muppets, but if your opinion is supported by untrue facts that you openly fabricate, then those facts are are going to be corrected and you are going to be deservedly labelled. People here aren't stupid as you are implying. You make statements that are untrue and try to weasel out of them with a grammatical mulligan.

I like booking on my phone. I don't think it needs or should be 3 months out for booking. Day of, week of, or something else would be better, maybe a bit more "fair" to some. But then again this is the place that has conditioned people they NEED to book restaurants 180 days out when that's not really the case. The same for booking FP's. It's secondary if a guest is satisfied by this. The idea of booking all of this in advance isn't just for the guest's benefit. It's very much secondary. I don't love the money spent on the overall project. It came at a time when we had little investment in the parks so it didn't sit well with a lot of us. I think upgrades were necessary ... I like booking FP on my phone, I like editing and changing the times, I like switching it on a whim. I think there's a lot of bonuses for how it is now. I don't miss traversing the park for a FP at rope drop. I know some do but I sure don't. I also think mobile ordering is a fantastic addition. There's truly a lot they can do with the app. I don't mind using the phone in the park. I just put it away the rest of the time. I'm hardly walking around with my face in my phone 24/7. Although if the APP worked a bit better and faster while in the parks it wouldn't take nearly as long ;)

Blame the internet for that... and the bloggers... and people like us who eat that stuff up...

Sorry to those who could care less about this but I'm going to reply ... But you had reservations last year? You've said you'll never return but you have and you will. I get you're angry but it's time to move on from the anger. It's been years. Let it go. You had some bad experiences. Find something new to focus on. Life's too short to carry this much of a grudge. And sometimes, yeah, I think you exaggerate the hatred you have. And a lot of times I agree with you. You can post how you want, but I just don't like the hyperbole. And yes, you have been called out numerous times because you do state things as facts when you are wrong, and here's the thing Ford, I like some of your posts and just wish you'd lose the rhetoric and you should be like "yeah, I was wrong about that one, sorry". I don't think how some of us approach that (addressing you) is correct but you don't need to be Spirit Junior. IMO. I approach you about this because I think you're better than what you present yourself. Do you care about that? You don't have to, just sharing my opinion. But you should ask yourself why people say what they say. It's not just getting their jollies off attacking you. And for what it's worth, I've speculated about paid FP in the past and was quickly dismissed. Well, look where we're at. So this has nothing to do with it. And just own up. If you visit the world, say it. You don't need to say you haven't been for years, and then we hear you talk about 2017 reservations. I mean ... that's why people question your negativity and your honesty. You clearly still love Disney or you wouldn't be here. It doesn't need to be Debbie Downer all the time. We know how you feel about the place and why. But then you insist on speculating (which, when you present it, it does appear like you are talking as if it's a fact) that Star Wars Land in the swaps will be years and years away, you stubbornly refuse to give in when people tell you that Mr. Potato Head is coming back .... I mean, people do have their reasons. It's nice to throw the blame at "us" when your posts present things as facts. Sure, I do believe it is YOUR SPECULATION, but there's clearly a reason some people don't think that to be the case. Unfortunately on the internet, even though when I post, or you post, and it's simply our opinion, we seem to have to imply "IMO". But don't do that, don't turn it around on us. You present your opinion as fact but then when called out you turn and say it was just your opinion. If you want to be Negative Nancy, more power to you, but doesn't it get exhausting being so negative?

ford91exploderFeb 05, 2018

You @Kman101 and people like you are the ones who take my speculations on Disneys future actions and present them as 'FACTS' I'm not an insider and never claimed to be one. - Yet here we are talking about PAID fastpasses, When FP hit my comments were along the lines of it's only a matter of time before paid fastpasses are a thing (and of course was called a liar because DISNEY would never CHARGE for FP cuz they luvs woo) , And here we are with a paid fast passes coming down the pike. I really wonder about the critical thinking skills of the average american who takes something written in a active voice and mistakes that for truth. Not everyone writes in third person passive voice (look em up) And yet nearly all the negative things about Disney world i speculated about have come to pass. And after a string of bad experiences at WDW hell will freeze over before I return.

Was in AK twice this weekend. Never saw so many VIP Tours going on there as now... So, again, people shelling out big bucks for front of line access is not new.

nickysFeb 05, 2018

But it does mean you CAN be sure of experiencing the really new, popular rides though, IF you can get an FP 2 months out. Which is how this particular branch of the discussion started. But yes, I know some people hate it, others like me actually prefer it now the parks are so much busier.
