Heat Index Could Hit 110 at Walt Disney World Today - Heat Advisory Issued
A heat advisory runs from 11am to 8pm today, August 11, with heat index values up to 110 degrees across Orange and Osceola counties. Conditions stay dangerous through the weekend.

A heat advisory is in effect for the Walt Disney World area today, August 11 2026, from 11am to 8pm. The National Weather Service in Melbourne says heat index values will reach 105 to 110 degrees across east central Florida, including Orange and Osceola counties.

Highs today will land in the low to mid 90s. Combined with high humidity, that pushes the heat index into advisory territory during the afternoon and evening hours.

Heat Advisory

  • When: 11am to 8pm today, August 11
  • Where: All of east central Florida, including the Orlando area
  • Heat index: Up to 110 degrees
  • Severity: Moderate, with a possible threat to life or property

The National Weather Service recommends a few basic steps if you're heading into the parks today:

  • Drink water before you feel thirsty
  • Take breaks in air conditioning or shade
  • Wear light, loose clothing
  • Never leave kids or pets in a parked car

Walt Disney World has plenty of indoor AC locations, water fountains, and shaded areas throughout each park. If you start to feel overheated, head indoors to an attraction, restaurant, or shop with air conditioning until you cool down.

The Weather Service says hot and humid conditions will continue through at least Friday, with heat index values reaching near advisory criteria each afternoon. A drier air mass is limiting rain chances this week, which usually cuts down on the storms that knock the heat index back a bit.

The heat wave is expected to carry into the weekend and early next week, with high temperatures staying in the low to mid 90s and a moderate to major HeatRisk each day.

If you're planning a Walt Disney World visit this week, build in time for midday breaks. Consider scheduling water rides, indoor attractions, or table-service meals during the hottest stretch of the afternoon, roughly 1pm to 5pm.
