A Heat Advisory is back in effect for Walt Disney World, for the second day in a row. The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued the advisory from 11 am to 8 pm today, July 10, with heat index values expected up to 110 degrees.

The advisory covers Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties, along with Lake, Brevard, and Volusia counties and parts of the Treasure Coast. High temperatures again reach the mid to upper 90s, and humidity pushes the heat index well above the century mark.

Back-to-Back Advisory Days

High pressure sitting over the area at the surface and aloft is keeping the atmosphere suppressed, holding temperatures above normal and rain chances low, at 30 percent or less today. A bit more moisture is moving in from the south, which could bring slightly higher storm coverage near Okeechobee and the interior Treasure Coast this afternoon. Most of the Orlando area stays drier, with any storms tending to develop on the west side of the state.

Tips for Staying Safe at the Parks

  • Drink water before you feel thirsty.
  • Take breaks in air conditioning or shade every hour or so.
  • Wear light-colored, loose clothing.
  • Watch for signs of heat illness, including dizziness, nausea, or heavy sweating that suddenly stops.

If you're at the parks today, plan around the heat again. Save indoor rides, shows, and shopping for the hottest stretch between noon and 5 pm, and stick to outdoor attractions in the morning or evening.

What Comes Next

Saturday stays hot, with highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat index values close to advisory criteria, between 106 and 110. Rain chances pick back up to a more typical 40 to 60 percent as moisture builds in on southerly flow, though any storms could bring frequent lightning, gusty winds up to 55 mph, and heavy rain.

A cool front moves into the Deep South by Tuesday and stalls out, bringing a chance for slightly higher rain chances and a bit of relief from the heat midweek. After that, high pressure builds back in in the Southeast late next week. Highs settle into the low to mid 90s through Thursday, with peak heat index values between 102 and 107.
