A Heat Advisory is in effect for Walt Disney World and the surrounding area from 11 am to 8 pm today, July 9 2026. The National Weather Service in Melbourne says heat index values could reach 110 degrees this afternoon.
The advisory covers Orange and Osceola counties, along with Seminole, Lake, and Brevard counties and parts of the Treasure Coast. High temperatures will run in the mid to upper 90s, with humidity pushing the heat index well past the 100 degree mark.
Weak wind patterns are letting sea breezes move inland at close to the same pace from both coasts. That's cutting rain chances to around 20 percent for the Orlando area today, so there's little relief from passing storms. Less cloud cover means more direct sun through the afternoon.
Tips for Staying Safe at the Parks
- Drink water before you feel thirsty.
- Take breaks in air conditioning or shade every hour or so.
- Wear light-colored, loose clothing.
- Watch for signs of heat illness, including dizziness, nausea, or heavy sweating that suddenly stops.
If you're at the parks today, plan around the heat. Ride outdoor attractions in the morning or evening, and save indoor rides, shows, and shopping for the stretch between noon and 5 pm.
What Comes Next
The heat sticks around through Saturday. Temperatures stay in the mid to upper 90s, and Friday's heat index could still climb into the 100s despite drier air. A bit more moisture moves in Saturday, pushing heat index values back near advisory criteria.
Some relief arrives early next week. Highs drop back into the low to mid 90s from Sunday through Wednesday, though the heat index will still reach the low to mid 100s during peak afternoon hours.
