Disney Photopass is launching a new offering called 'Cinderella Castle Mural of Memories' that lets you virtually transform Cinderella Castle with your own PhotoPass images.

While at Magic Kingdom, you can use the My Disney Experience app to add select Disney PhotoPass photos to Cinderella Castle using augmented reality technology, via Disney's collaboration with Snap.

The experience will prompt you to select a portrait-oriented Disney PhotoPass photo from your photo gallery within the My Disney Experience app. If you prefer not to use one of these photos, you can also choose from a collection of images featuring Disney icons and favorite characters.

Watch the video below to see how it works.

'Cinderella Castle Mural of Memories', available for $9.99, includes:

  • A spot of your choosing on available sections on Cinderella Castle to digitally pin your photo, which will be waiting for you and other guests to view again and again during visits to Magic Kingdom Park throughout the celebration and beyond (for at least three years).
  • A special video of your photo flying from the castle that can be downloaded and shared.
  • The ability to download a high-resolution version of your pinned photo from your Disney PhotoPass gallery without watermarks (a $16.95 value), both in its original form and an additional version with a special border applied that includes your first name. If you're a Disney cast member, Annual Passholder, Disney Vacation Club Member, or Club 33 Member, you'll receive a personalized border reflecting your affiliation.

Disney, will you just stop doing things?

I dont know why this is a thing?

If this is cheaper than the single photo purchase and also gives you the digital photo...is there any reason to not just use this to get a discount for the photo? Even if you don't actually care? I guess, maybe if you have an issue with the idea of strangers seeing your photo, that's the main holdback.

Look at the bright side: At least this is virtual; no epcot-style tombstones in front of the castle! 🤣

I'm sure someone will do this and find it cool, but I think it misses the mark for a lot. For Disneyland's 50th, you could submit photos and they would compile them into collages that made up a larger photo of a Disney character or scene. They were then placed throughout the parks and you could go look up where you fingernail sized photo was. It was free! This seems like a recycle that you pay for. I'll pass.

I don't believe so, but I may be wrong.

Just what I go to Disney for; fake things on my phone.
