For the third time since its launch, Disney World's Lightning Lane Premier Pass has sold out at Magic Kingdom. On Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024, the pass reached full capacity, coinciding with its highest price point of $449. This follows previous sellouts at Magic Kingdom on November 25 and 26, reflecting high demand during the busy holiday week.

Record Pricing Meets Record Demand

Thanksgiving Day marked the first time the Premier Pass reached its maximum price at Magic Kingdom and sold out on the same day. The $449 rate is the peak of the announced pricing range for the park, introduced when the Premier Pass launched earlier this year. With Magic Kingdom being Disney World's flagship park and home to top-tier attractions like TRON Lightcycle / Run and Tiana's Bayou Adventure, it's no surprise that the pass hit its limit during the Thanksgiving rush.

The combination of high demand and premium pricing underscores the growing popularity of the Lightning Lane Premier Pass, particularly at Magic Kingdom during peak times.

Third Sellout for Magic Kingdom

This sellout marks the third time Magic Kingdom's Lightning Lane Premier Pass has sold out since its launch:

  • November 25, 2024: Sold out at $379
  • November 26, 2024: Sold out at $399
  • November 28, 2024 (Thanksgiving): Sold out at $449

Each sellout occurred during Thanksgiving week, one of Disney World's busiest times of the year, demonstrating the Premier Pass's appeal for guests seeking to maximize their time during high-traffic periods.

What This Means for Guests

The sellout highlights the importance of planning ahead, particularly for guests visiting during peak seasons. Key takeaways include:

  • Book Early: With the Premier Pass now proven to sell out on high-demand days, booking early is essential to secure access.

  • Dynamic Pricing in Action: The sellout at $449 showcases Disney's dynamic pricing model, which adjusts rates based on demand. Guests can expect higher prices—and potential sellouts—during busy holidays.

  • Alternative Options: Guests who miss out on the Premier Pass can still use other options like Lighting Lane Multi and Single Pass for select attractions.

A Glimpse Into Future Demand

The sellout of the Premier Pass at its highest price point suggests that similar trends could emerge during other peak periods, such as Christmas and New Year's. Guests planning visits during these times should anticipate high demand and potential capacity limits for premium offerings like the Lightning Lane Premier Pass.

This is true. I’m in a Facebook group for a children’s clothing boutique that does a lot of character prints. Someone posted recently asking for Harry Potter prints for their trip to Disney. When someone replied saying Harry Potter is Universal, not Disney, the OP responded saying they are going to several parks- Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Universal- so it’s easier to just say Disney instead of listing them all 😂 I always think 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ but never say anything 😂

She had no idea where she was actually visiting. She thought they were one and the same.

Some people use Disney to refer to all theme parks in the Orlando area. Did she have a good time. Where did she stay? You don't need as much planning with Universal, compared with Disney. Guests staying at one of the 3 original hotels don't have to do any advance planning

Did she think she’d visited Disney too, or had she simply confused the two?

Update on niece's trip - she spent the entire "Disney" vacation at Universal. 😂🤪

After spending Thanksgiving with my brothers family, who just got back from WDW, we’ve been convinced to buy MultiPass for our upcoming trip. He said he hated how expensive it was but they found it better than FP+ so at least they saw some benefit for the price. He said they managed just fine with MP so they see no need for Premiere pass, which is now completely off our radar.

Guilty as charged

I’ve seen people going over or under railings, unhooking chains, etc. to avoid walking a few extra steps.

That’s not why that’s done

Interesting. I've never complained about breezing thru empty queue segments. In fact, it left me with the impression the line was short.

Guests complain if they waste time snaking through empty queue segments. Sometimes Disney can't win.

Very true, before paid LL, I think they inflated times to make folks feel good they waited less than the posted wait time, they still do it today for the same reason with the happy side effect of possibly selling some LLs ;)

And they've been using optical illusions to make those look longer than they are - like closing queue lanes indoors so the line extends outside (where it can be seen and percieved as a long line).
