Disney has updated the Disability Access Service (DAS) page on the Walt Disney World website, expanding details on the live video registration process and clarifying several policies related to eligibility and technology requirements.

New video chat details

The updated page now gives step-by-step guidance for guests registering for DAS via live video chat. The expanded section highlights several requirements:

  • Registration hours: Live video chat is available from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
  • Recording prohibited: Guests are informed that recording the session is not allowed.
  • Age requirement: The person requesting DAS must be 18 or older if registering for themselves or another guest.
  • Presence required: The guest for whom DAS is being requested must be present during the chat.
  • Account setup: Guests must log in or create a Disney account before continuing and link valid park admissionfor all party members.
  • Zoom required: Guests using a mobile device must download the Zoom app to complete the video chat.
  • Accessibility support: The chat is screen reader-friendly and includes text chat for guests with hearing disabilities.
  • Language: The chat is currently available in English only.

These additions replace the brief earlier mention of live video registration with a much more comprehensive description of how the process works and what guests need to prepare.

Clarified registration and eligibility

The update restates and slightly reorders the registration steps to make them clearer:

  • Guests can begin the live video chat process up to 60 days before their visit.
  • Disney confirms that there is no in-person option to request DAS registration. Guests who do not register in advance can still participate in a same-day live video chat at the park.
  • Cast Members will conduct individual conversations with guests to discuss eligibility and recommend appropriate services.
  • The photo requirement for the DAS-registered guest and maximum party size of four remain.

Overview: How DAS registration now works

Disney's Disability Access Service (DAS) is designed to support guests who, due to a developmental disability such as autism or similar, are unable to wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time. It's not a front-of-line pass and doesn't grant immediate access to attractions. Instead, it allows eligible guests to request a return time that is comparable to the current standby wait, so they can visit other parts of the park while waiting virtually.

DAS is available only to guests who meet Disney's eligibility criteria after a live conversation with a Cast Member. The service can be used by the registered guest and up to three additional party members, for a total of four people. It's valid for the length of the ticket or up to one year, whichever is shorter.

Here's how the process works, based on the latest update:

  1. Register - Guests begin by requesting a live video chat with a Cast Member up to 60 days before a park visit. The guest with a disability must be present for the conversation, and a photo will be taken during registration. If DAS is approved, the service will be linked to the guest's My Disney Experience account.
  2. Request a Return Time - Once inside the park, guests can request their first DAS return time through the My Disney Experience app or at Guest Relations. The return time will be similar to the posted standby wait, and only one DAS return time may be held at a time.
  3. Enjoy the Park - While waiting, guests are free to experience other attractions, dine, shop, or rest. After redeeming a DAS return time, a new one can be requested 10 minutes later through the app or at a Guest Experience location.

Thank you

No, it's on a go-forward basis. The expiration date of the DAS you received back in March likely was 240 days. Once that expires and you re-apply for DAS, then it will be valid for a year.

puppawuppaMay 20, 2025

If I read correctly the DAS i got in March will be valid until March 2026? I have an Annual Pass. TIA

Tigger&PoohMay 20, 2025

I've seen that reported as well -- and not just with this new extension to one year but it has been happening already with the 240 days. If someone already has tickets for a 2nd/3rd/etc. visit further in the future, the DAS will be set with the longer expiration. But the tickets have to already be purchased and in MDE.

JAN JMay 20, 2025

In the FB DAS group they said that some people who already had tickets for future trips were able to get an extended validity. Not sure how long though.

I’d be interested to see what happens if someone already has another ticket already booked within a year when they apply for it.

jennab55May 19, 2025

Valid through the length of your ticket is how it reads.

mutekiMay 19, 2025

Dated tickets/day guests still 14 days or whatever it was I assume?

jennab55May 18, 2025

Smart ad now APs will be approved through the length of their ticket, which makes sense. Then they can reapply for DAS and if denies make the choice to renew or not.

JAN JApr 09, 2025

Makes sense, I hadn't considered it from that perspective.

Tigger&PoohApr 08, 2025

Agree that is the assumed reason for not limiting DAS. I also believe re-rides are simply not the problem that some posters here claim it is. If Disney felt DAS re-rides were causing a considerable backlog at certain attractions they could probably tweak DAS to include some limits (likely X number of attractions per day rather than "no re-rides"), but since it's apparently not a particularly high volume of riders Disney isn't interested in creating such limits.
