Video Walkthrough of the D23 2026 Imagineering Pavilion: Tropical Americas, Piston Peak, Carousel of Progress, and More

Walt Disney Imagineering has given a detailed look inside the Imagineering: Horizons pavilion at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event 2026.

The pavilion — described as the largest Imagineering showcase in D23 event history — is built around a central Promenade of Progress and divided into four zones covering Disney parks projects happening around the globe right now.

The Pavilion Design

The entrance marquee takes direct inspiration from the original 1964 Progress USA marquee at the New York World's Fair. Mid-century design throughout is inspired by the Tomorrowland Terrace, and concept art of active projects covers the walls. The central hub — the Promenade of Progress — connects the four main zones.

Disney Adventure World — Lion King

The first zone features three models from the upcoming Lion King immersive world at Disney Adventure World in Paris, including Rafiki's Tree, a ride vehicle maquette, and a black light model brought directly from the WDI model shop in Glendale.

Tokyo Disney — Space Mountain

A significant reveal for Tokyo Disney Resort fans: the first public look at Tokyo Disney's new Space Mountain, including the Plaza main icon model, a ride vehicle maquette, and a 1:50 design model flown from the field where it's actively being used for architectural art direction.

Disney Believe — Coming Sunday

A display for the Disney Believe cruise ship is teasing new announcements described as coming during Sunday's event programming. No further details were shared in the walkthrough.

Superhero Stories

Two major reveals in this zone. First, a scale model of the new Avengers attraction expansion at Hong Kong Disneyland — shown publicly for the first time. Second, a custom spray-painted mural celebrating the upcoming Spider-Man themed land coming to Shanghai Disney Resort. The zone also includes the Avengers Campus expansion study model, showing how the footprint of the existing campus will grow, alongside the Stark Flight Lab ride vehicle maquette.

Disney California Adventure

The pavilion includes a sneak peek at upcoming Avatar experiences coming to Disney California Adventure, plus a first look at the Hector statue that will appear in the queue of the upcoming Coco attraction. In a particularly personal touch, guests are invited to write down a Disney Resort memory on paper — those memories will be collected and planted in the roots of a tree that becomes part of the Coco attraction itself. Above the display, Pixar's Ofrenda is recreated from the film, surrounded by photos of Imagineers making their own Disneyland memories.

Walt Disney World — Carousel of Progress

A major section of the pavilion is dedicated to Walt Disney World, starting with Carousel of Progress. On display:

• A new Carousel of Progress poster inspired by the 1960s original
• The Rover animatronic from the original Walt Disney World show
• Costumes from the new attraction — Act One's father costume inspired by the 1960s and the Act Four mother costume inspired by a possible future
• Brand new 1:2 scale models of Act One and Act Four scenes, built as homages to the original models made for the attraction

Carousel of Progress D23

Walt Disney World — Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom

Two brand new animated figures heading into the Tropical Americas attraction are on display — and will ship directly from D23 to the job site after the event. Also on show: a half-scale model of one of the attraction's scenes, ride vehicle maquettes, and the reveal of four new Carousel characters for the land.

The temple facade model for the Indiana Jones attraction is also on display, flown directly from the active job site where it's leading art direction in the field.

D23 Imagineering Pavilion

Walt Disney World — Cars Land / Piston Peak at Magic Kingdom

The largest room in the pavilion is dedicated to Piston Peak — the Cars-themed expansion coming to Magic Kingdom. The centerpiece is a 15x5-foot model of the full Piston Peak Magic Kingdom expansion. The room is full of detail, including characters from the land. Look out for a frog that's a car. Inspiration drawn from Disney artist Eyvind Earle's backgrounds is visible throughout the design.

Clay dimensional sketches of the Guardian Trees — part of the land — were transported from Florida in a refrigerated truck to prevent damage on the journey.

The zone also includes a happy forest area with characters from the land and a spooky forest section with more ominous figures, plus an artist pin board showing active art direction inspiration currently being used in the field.

Piston Peak

Monstropolis at Disney's Hollywood Studios

The Monstropolis zone reveals four brand new critters that will inhabit Monstropolis, including one detail that will catch your eye: a two-headed pigeon. An artist pin board shows the live inspiration being used for current field art direction.

R&D Area — Star Wars

The R&D section of the pavilion is Star Wars-themed this year. Highlights include:

• A behind-the-scenes look at the new Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run mission featuring Mando and Grogu
• Hugo's Sweets and Fizz — a refreshment cart from The Mandalorian and Grogu, shown as it appears in the series
• An animatronic creature workshop, with interactive cast members available to chat with guests

The Imagineering: Horizons pavilion opens to D23 ticketholders on Friday, August 14, at the Anaheim Convention Center. Access is open to all D23 fan pass ticket holders. The pavilion is located in Hall C on the show floor map.
