Congrats! I'm on a few waitlists for Goofy, so hoping my wife and I can get in.

I officially registered today because I met my fundraising minimum for CF! Still looking to get in for WineDineHalf. Any leads??

Congratulations! Last time I tried to sign up for the Marathon, I could not get in.

I am happy to report that I am officially in to run the WDW Marathon this year! I was fortunate to grab a charity bib through Team Breathe, which supports families affected by cystic fibrosis (CF). This is my first time running for a charity and I am excited to make a difference and am happy to be on Team Breathe because as a HS physical education teacher, I have worked with many wonderful students who have CF. If this is a meaningful cause for you and you would like to contribute, send me a DM. See you, my friends, in early January!!

I’m in the same boat as you. When is the deadline for submitting the POT?

Build more monorail lines!

The W&D half used to be run at night. I think your suggestions would be awesome to experience, especially Pandora at night. It was fantastic when the W&D 5k was still in DAK. Extra added bonus...the roads between parks will be less busy the entire race time. But will guests at Boardwalk resorts complain about the noise? Will the Boardwalk have to close earlier at night?

GimpYancIentMar 28, 2026

Now thats a thought! To run the Half's or at least the full at night. When the parks close the races start. Under the lights, with opportunity for drones show activity, laser show activity, holograms and artistic lighting at various locations along the course. The portions of the course through the parks would be truly unique, special. (runners and support personnel / CM's only) Creative thinking.

Is there pressure to get the streets in the city cleared? Because I read LOTS of complaints from guests who (a) don't like the road closures and resulting delays to get to the parks and/or (b) don't like to be held at certain spots in the parks to let runners pass. The only solution is to either open the last park later or start the races earlier. The former will tick off guests and the latter runners. Or just run the halfs and full at night. That would be cool. 👍🏻

Which DVC kinda frowns on.....

So now my challenge is to get in decent enough shape for something like a 2:15 half before the POT deadline, but summer distance races are not super common. Plus as my fitness increases, the daily average temperature also increases.

Yes, the field has been expanded over the years, yet it still does fill very quickly. Your friend is correct about runners getting shut out. run Disney has no exclusive on filling the field quickly once the events open for registration. The MCM is a do not hesitate type of registration.

GimpYancIentMar 23, 2026

Correct it is necessary to train for any endurance event that is common sense. 26.2 is 26.2, a certified course is a certified course, and a legitimate event is a legitimate event. Because participants are limited / restricted to only those that can maintain a minimum pace requirement does not make an event more or less legitimate. You point out The New York City Marathon, absolutely legitimate with the best / fastest, most proficient, world class athletes participating, a top-notch world-class marathon. YET! the New York Road Runners Club has worked it so the average participant, the non-athletes that (maybe the one major event in their lives) get to finish the distance, complete a marathon by keeping the course open for 10 hours. If New York Road Runners Club and the City of New York can conduct a world class (legitimate) marathon considering the best in the world and the back of the pack average person so can Disney. Actually, it should be easier for Disney since run Disney is not trying to attract the world class runner with prize money and the events occur entirely on Disney property reducing the amount of government coordination to be done. The minimum pace requirement set by run Disney is dumb resetting it to 18 only makes sense. There is no maximum limit, if a participant wants to set a course record, P.R. or simply enjoy a fast run, go for it. A quote from Fred Lebow (founder of the New York City Marathon) "whether you finish first, in the middle of the pack or last you can say I finished, there is a lot of satisfaction in that".
