Disney has released full details on Disney Celebrates America 250, the company-wide celebration of America's 250th anniversary. Here's everything happening across broadcast, streaming, and the parks.

The Broadcast Event

Beginning the evening of July 3 and running through July 4, ABC, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, National Geographic, FX, Freeform, ABC News Live, and ABC-owned stations will carry a 24-hour, cross-platform broadcast.

David Muir leads coverage alongside a large roster of ABC News talent including Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Michael Strahan, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and more, with reporters fanning out across all 50 states.

Before the main event, ABC airs a 2-hour primetime special on June 29 — Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness — hosted by Deborah Roberts from Walt Disney World and Will Reeve from Disneyland. It airs 8–10pm ET/PT.

What's in the July 3 - July 4 Broadcast

The 24-hour event covers a wide range of segments:

  • Nashville's Star-Spangled Bash — A live celebration in downtown Nashville with performances across multiple genres, plus one of the largest fireworks and drone shows in the US, set to a live score by the Grammy Award-winning Nashville Symphony
  • Countdown to America's 250th — Rare access inside the Statue of Liberty, produced with the Consulate General of France in New York
  • GMA's 50 States in 50 Weeks: America The Beautiful — A culmination of the showcase series
  • Dawn of America — Tracing American history from colonial times through the Declaration of Independence
  • America Expands Westward — A cross-country adventure including broadcasts from Disney Cruise Line's Disney Wonder in Ketchikan, Alaska
  • Innovation and Invention — Covering the birth of Hollywood cinema, American fashion history, the space race, and more
  • Wonders of America — A collaboration between ABC News anchors and National Geographic Explorers, featuring the newly announced Seven Natural Wonders of America
  • ESPN SportsCenter Special — A two-hour live edition on ABC, July 4 from 2–4pm PT/5–7pm ET, co-hosted by Kevin Negandhi and Christine Williamson, celebrating the people and moments that shaped American sports

At Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is hosting an extended run of fireworks across both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT — and for the first time, both parks are running shows across three nights.

July 4 fireworks schedule:

  • Disney's Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky: July 3, 4, and 5 at 9pm (Magic Kingdom)
  • The Heartbeat of Freedom: July 3, 4, and 5 at 9:15pm (EPCOT)

Typically Magic Kingdom hosts its Independence Day fireworks over two nights, and EPCOT just one — so three nights at both parks is a first.

Beyond fireworks, the resort will also feature:

  • Patriotic lighting on Spaceship Earth
  • Performances from Voices of Liberty
  • The Electrical Water Pageant
  • Themed décor along Main Street, U.S.A.
  • Flag retreat ceremonies
  • Performances by the Dapper Dans and Main Street Philharmonic
  • An extended run of the Portraits of Courage exhibit honoring post-9/11 veterans through Fourth of July weekend
  • Special performances from the United States Air Force Band of the West at Disney Springs
  • Limited-time merchandise, food, and beverage offerings

Soarin' Across America

Now open at EPCOT, Soarin' Across America is a reimagined version of the attraction taking guests on a flight across the United States. Locations include the New England coastline, Mount Rushmore, Washington D.C., New York City, Grand Canyon West, and more than a dozen other sites.

The EPCOT queue features National Geographic photography and an all-new trivia challenge — The Soarin' Challenge Across America — with questions themed around superlatives.

The attraction features a new arrangement of the iconic Soarin' score by original composer Bruce Broughton.

At Disneyland Resort

West Coast offerings include:

  • The return of Celebrate America! fireworks
  • A pre-show fireworks tribute ahead of World of Color
  • Flag retreat ceremonies honoring veterans
  • Themed décor on Main Street, U.S.A. and Buena Vista Street
  • Military band performances and a celebratory cavalcade
  • Soarin' Across America opens at Disney California Adventure on July 2

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse have also debuted new patriotic attire — red, white, and blue ensembles — for the celebration.

National Geographic

National Geographic is expanding beyond the broadcast with a summer storytelling package across print, digital, and social platforms launching June 16, further exploring America's stories tied to the Seven Natural Wonders of America.

Disney Celebrates America 250 runs from Veterans Day 2025 through July 4, 2026.

I also just spent a week in the parks. As someone said above its at World of Disney and every park’s main store has some as well, as do a few other stores sprinkled about. Some of it is what’s online but some of it looks to be park unique, at least for now. But yes, in every major store there’s a dedicated section for it.

Emporium does as well, and the resorts have some clothing etc. Different than whats on disneystore.

Just returned from WDW, and I can tell you for sure that World of Disney downtown had an entire section just inside the spitting Stitch doors.

I dont know about Disneystore, but Old Navy has patriotic Mickey merch.

HauntedPirate12 days ago

Anyone seen or heard about any patriotic Mickey merchandise in the parks? I know they have a few bland things on DisneyStore.com but seriously - A 1776-garbed Mickey/Liberty Square shirt? There are plenty of merchandising opportunities just ready for the taking.

Sweet fancy Moses. I had a cover-all on my “Disney Buzzword Bingo” card from that one.

Agree I mean parts of Luminous are okay, love the opening, but after that its kind of a mess. The ROE music is iconic and timeless, great to use for 250th type promos.

montyz8113 days ago

You're not in the minority. Doesn't do anything for me either. I still think an upgrades ROE could be done.

Comped13 days ago

I have a list somewhere of just a small amount of places the music has shown up (I was told it's been played on every continent in some capacity, and that wouldn't surprise me)... Customs was the highest profile place technically (and I was told the producers of RoE initially refused to take any money for the use of their music by the feds - even if they did later take the money from State when it came time for the video to be made), but not the only one.

I didn't know they were doing a telecast. That's fun. Do we know if they're filming live or will it be like the Christmas parade and pre-taped? I love that music so much. Delighted to see it used in any way. I know I'm the minority but Luminous just doesn't land with me in the same way.
