Trader Sam's Grog Grotto hours have been extended, giving you more time to visit one of Walt Disney World's most popular lounges.

According to the operating calendar, Trader Sam's Grog Grotto at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is now scheduled to operate daily from 11:00 am to midnight through at least February 14, 2026, which is the furthest date currently listed. The lounge previously opened at 3 pm.

The existing age requirement has not changed:

  • Guests of all ages are welcome from opening until 8:00 pm
  • After 8:00 pm, entry is limited to guests 21 and older

Tiki Terrace hours also extended

Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace, the outdoor counterpart located just outside the grotto, is also operating on a longer schedule:

  • 11:00 am to 11:00 pm daily

The terrace remains all-ages throughout the day and evening.

Food service and entry details

Both locations continue to operate on a walk-up basis only.

  • No reservations are available
  • Food is served daily from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm at both Trader Sam's Grog Grotto and Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace

With earlier openig times now on the calendar, the extended Trader Sam's Grog Grotto hours make it easier to plan a midday stop while visiting the parks.

That will make the servers on the Terrace happier as they'll get more hours and not have to shoo away Captain Cook spill overs. I wonder if Adam will move back down from Tambu ? If they could extend the menu a bit for more items other than what will fit in a toaster oven, they could increase sales.
I love that they're making the lounge/ bar more child and family friendly by opening it earlier!

I hope those kids
This is a good thing. Hope it extends to when we go back in May.
I like that this will remove the craziness to get in at 3....It may become madness early in the night since kids are allowed in all the way till 8 - but more hours is an improvement, and little kids probably dont want to be stuck in there for an extended period. Upgrade.
I had a poor experience with a rude cast member there in August, hopefully this will improve that process for all. We (3 adults) then went upstairs for a drink at Tambu, which was full, so left the resort and headed to the Grand Floridian where the cast at Enchanted Rose were like night and day different.
Has anyone noticed a significant change with the wait times - is it will around 2 - 2.5 hours if you join the waitlist in the afternoon around 3PM? Does anyone know if the callback policy is the same with these newly implemented changes? Do I have to return within 15 minutes once notified in the app?
I applaud this schedule change... when I'm on vacation, the rule is "It's 5 o'clock somewhere!"

In my 20's it was if I'm awake and not working, why not ?

After working an arduous mid-shift, a cold adult beverage always tasted better, much like a cold beer after a scuba or snorkeling session in the briny blue!
