The Cake Bake Shop at Disney's BoardWalk has filed a new permit to begin work on installing the restaurant's kitchen.

The permit is assigned to Johnson Lancaster and Associates, a food service contractor specializing in commercial kitchen design, construction, and renovation.

The Cake Bake Shop at Disney's BoardWalk was initially announced in 2022 and planned to open in 2023. Construction progressed leisurely as the former ESPN Club was converted into the new restaurant, and the 2023 opening goal slipped to 2024.

Today's permit for the kitchen buildout suggests things are continuing to move forward, and we may see The Cake Bake Shop open its doors later this year. Disney says, The Cake Bake Shop will bring exquisite dining, delicious Afternoon Tea, delectable desserts, marvelous champagne and fanciful cocktails for an extraordinary and whimsical experience.

I highly doubt they go up to $8 lol I’m actually surprised Disney doesn’t set limits on soft drinks and bottled water to keep them in line across property.

price increases are coming soon so I guess we’ll see if these go up or not

This place will probably sink, too.

$4.78 with tax at WDW counter service for fountain drink. $5.31 with tax at WDW for bottled soda.

is it 5 after tax...? regardless soda is gross. people need to start bringing water bottles and filling them up for free imo. way healthier

I believe they're about $5. Not $7.

You will basically see Wedding's, baby showers, women brunch together, Anniversaries, convention business people, and forefront mostly vloggers - vloggers showing off how everything is delicious and fancy when they don't give s*t because it's people's money and not their's. Another thing to show off after or before an Epcot Private Fireworks cruise!

Which again, would make it make a lot of sense at Grand Floridian with the tea time and all. But for Boardwalk, the vibe and pricing are insane, and I don't see this lasting more than a year or two unless they make some changes. Many, many comments on social media about how people refuse to go due to prices. And since it's third party, it won't have the same Disney FOMO that we typically see.

Add in a velvet rope, strict dress code, and out-of-reach exclusive club membership and this place will be packed. But seriously, I'm guessing Disney is charging them pretty high rent.

That’s not 100% true! It’s no character dining, but the elaborate tea time design/theming and glitter everywhere seems to be the driving force for the Indiana locations.

The timing of the restaurant's opening isn't great when WDW restaurants overall are seeing a decline in bookings. It also lacks the novelty of Toothsome or a Chef Mickey's or anything about the experience that would make it a must do.

Honestly, with these rip off prices, they won’t last long.

Is that the fancy type of bread they use for the BB&J sandwich? ;)

I don't know why this place is somehow reminding me of the Titanic. I mean rose cappuccino, prices for the wealthy class, ports off Boardwalk Atlantic City. The vessel it's built on looks very shiny fancy... Europe just next door. (Epcot)
