Construction Walls Down at The Cake Bake Shop - October 7 2024
Posted: Monday October 7, 2024 1:05pm ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

The construction walls have officially come down at the new Cake Bake Shop at Disney's BoardWalk, revealing its whimsical façade and intricate detailing.

Along with the removal of the construction walls, we now get a first look at the much-anticipated menu for the Cake Bake Shop – and while the dishes offer a variety of options, many of the prices are notably high.

The Cake Bake Shop menu features offerings from breakfast to lunch and dinner, as well as an extensive cocktail list and a selection of decadent desserts available at the bakery. The menu spans a wide range of tastes and preferences, with both classic and creative dishes that cater to different palates. However, while the atmosphere and menu items provide a unique experience, the premium price points are hard to overlook, making it an option for those looking to indulge rather than an everyday stop.

Breakfast & Brunch Highlights

Served from 7:00 am to 11:00 am, the breakfast and brunch menu includes several options for early risers, but at a significant cost. A plate of Cinnamon Toast Brioche Bites is priced at $24, while Challah Orange French Toast is $26. Even simpler items like Belgian Waffles are listed at $22.

Breakfast cocktails such as Mimosas are priced at $23 and Bloody Marys at $19, making a morning beverage an indulgence. Guests looking for a lighter start can choose the Fruit Plate for $26 or a Broccoli Quiche for $28.

In addition to these items, the menu features other breakfast classics with an upscale twist. The Classic Eggs Benedict is priced at $34, while the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict comes in at $42. The Blackberry Avocado Salade at $26 offers a lighter, refreshing option.

Lunch & Dinner Selections

From 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, the lunch and dinner offerings continue with high pricing. The Croque-Madame is $34, while the Grilled Salmon Sandwich is also $34. Even a Chicken Salade Croissant is priced at $26.

The Charcuterie Board is listed at $78, which may be best shared among a group given the high price. Other highlights include Steak Frites au Poivre for $58 and Crab Cakesfor $52, both of which are positioned as signature entrées meant to offer a memorable dining experience.

For those seeking lighter fare, the Green Goddess Cobb Salade is available for $28, and the Lemon Caesar Salade is priced at $26. The soups, such as the French Onion Soupe at $20 per bowl and the Chicken & Andouille Gumbo at $24, add to the variety of choices available, though they maintain the premium pricing theme seen throughout the menu.

Desserts & Drinks

Desserts are a key highlight of the Cake Bake Shop, featuring items like Gwendolyn's Famous Earl's Court Chocolate Cake at $24 per slice and the Millionaire Cake at $26. The Raspberry Champagne Cake is also priced at $24 per slice, and while these desserts are certainly indulgent, the pricing makes them a luxury treat.

The drink menu includes specialty cocktails such as Gwendolyn's Famous Cosmopolitan for $26 and classics like an Old Fashioned for $24. For champagne enthusiasts, a bottle of Dom Pérignon is available for $600, catering to those looking to celebrate a special occasion in style.

The selection of teas, coffees, and non-alcoholic beverages also maintains the theme of premium pricing. A London Fog Latte is priced at $7, and even a simple Coca-Cola will cost $8.

A Pricey Dining Option on Disney's BoardWalk

The Cake Bake Shop aims to offer an enchanting atmosphere and well-crafted dishes, but they come at a premium cost. With high prices for even basic menu items, the Cake Bake Shop clearly targets those seeking an upscale, special occasion meal rather than an everyday option.

An opening date is not yet available, but with the construction walls now removed, its debut should not be far away.

Nothing beats being able to pull you car right up to within a few feet of your hotel room door.

TrainsOfDisneyOct 29, 2025

And I’ve spent the same rates that pop charges for extremely basic unthemed motels on harbor Blvd. Not exactly sure what your point is? Comparing pop century to any basic motel is wild to me.

CompedOct 29, 2025

There are particularly nice Motel 6s and Super 8s, they're just uncommon. Certainly some of the hotels in their advertising material are nicer than average (but mostly actually exist). Them and Best Western can often get quite nice in areas with more competition, particularly in the midwest and flyover states in general. More appropriately, I've stayed in hotels often considered slightly higher quality than that (Holiday Inn for example, or any of the half-dozen lower level flags from Marriott), very basic accommodations relatively speaking, that have on-site shopping and dining, gates, and similar recreation opportunities (minus the size of course). All of them half (or third when Pop gets up into the $300/night range), the price.

TrainsOfDisneyOct 29, 2025

Unless you stayed at a particularly nice motel 6 (which I’m sure they do exist) I can’t understand how they are the least bit comparable by any measurable. And back to the discussion of what is expected at a “resort” like the pop century and a basic roadside motel. Gated entry. Large, landscaped property with water features. On site Dining options. On site shopping. Jogging path. Large themed swimming pools.

CompedOct 29, 2025

The design elements of both may not exactly replicate, but sure do rhyme. In my professional opinion.

surfsupdonOct 29, 2025

I agree!!!!! For my runDisney in Cali trip, I chose to stay at the Motel6 because so many compare our Values to that brand. So I figured the rooms would be nice and grounds pleasant. The Motel6 was terrible.

TrainsOfDisneyOct 29, 2025

Having had the “privilege” of staying at both - I can assure you that Pop Century is not even close to a motel 6.

CompedOct 29, 2025

Pop Century is a Motel 6 with a bit bigger shop, restaurant, and pools than expected, plus some big statues dotted about for "theming". And half a point for Skyliner service because of it being shared with AoA. I have seen guests pay over $300 a night for Pop, and $250+ isn't rare in my experience. You can legitimately stay at the brand new Conrad, Shingle Creek, or literally dozens of other 4 star or 5 star hotels. Maybe a luxury hotel if you get lucky and have status which gives you discount (Marriott's hotels are particularly good for this). No bloody way I'd stay at Pop at $200+ a night even when there are better hotels both on and off property for that price point. $250-$300+? I'd be running away. Fast.

KDM31091Oct 29, 2025

Yes this is what I’m saying. There is no theming or art design difference anymore. They look exactly the same. And honestly somewhat bland and depressing. I hope they add more life to them next refurb.

MisterPenguinOct 29, 2025

I don't know if they upgraded Aventura since it opened, but it was an awful expedient for me. Ugly design. Ultra bright halogen lights. The light over the sink was just an overhead spotlight... Think about applying cosmetics under that. All the lights controlled by that iPad.. Except one. The pad was heavy and kept "going to sleep" in a few seconds, winch made TV channel surfing or muting a chore.

TrainsOfDisneyOct 29, 2025

At one time the rooms were very different design wise. I’d say the all stars leaned too cheap originally. At one time the different pop century buildings had different retro art on the walls too - I think they are all identical now

MisterPenguinOct 29, 2025

What do you mean "now"? Pop was always just another *value * hotel like the All Stars. Until it got Skyline service and demanded an addition cost bump for that convenience.

KDM31091Oct 29, 2025

Similar I get but they could have a little more theming or design to differentiate them.

KDM31091Oct 29, 2025

It just should be offered. I saw a video about a hotel near Universal which was called I think Aventura. For a price point equal or less than something like Pop Century it has room controls on an iPad, and a robot that brings you food and supplies. Disney could step it up for sure.
