PHOTOS - Epcot's Space-themed restaurant construction update

Jan 24, 2019 in "Space 220 Restaurant"

The upcoming Space-themed restaurant in Epcot's Future World is beginning to take shape, with the outline of the building now clearly visible.

When it opens in 2019, expect to see some elaborate special effects as part of the experience, including a 250ft projection screen that will wrap around the restaurant. Seating will be on two tiers, along with a lounge.

Located between Mission: SPACE and Test Track in Future World, the new space restaurant will be operated by the Patina Restaurant Group.

Watched some Dolph Lundgren movies years ago. He's on a Soviet boomer, nuke missile sub. Chasing somebody, I dont' remember the plot. There's all this huge pipe, gate valves, steel beams and then he runs up a set of concrete stairs complete with steel handrails. Those Soviets...they sure knew how to build 'em back then! So a few cinderblocks up in orbit? Think of it as radiation shielding. (probably filmed at a power plant)

Something's gotta anchor the space elevator.

Are we sure the cinder blocks aren’t part of the theming?

Even the Space 220 sign isn't wearing it's mask properly!

That’s the back of a construction wall.

More importantly, that wall shows it's not nearly ready to open.

The tarp covering the Space 220 sign partially fell off. Photo comes from site that shall not be named..

I was so excited for this restaurant and now I’m at the point where I don’t even care. Lol. Covid seriously sucks.
