Magic Kingdom's popular quick-service spot, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, has launched a revamped menu for late 2024, bringing several new offerings while also saying goodbye to some old favorites.

The restaurant, known for its Tex-Mex inspired cuisine, now features a mix of customizable bowls, updated entrees, new desserts, and slight price adjustments. Below is a breakdown of the most significant changes, from main dishes to dessert, as well as what's been replaced.

Menu Additions and Changes

The Angus Cheeseburger options, including the Double Bacon Barbecue Cheeseburger ($15.49 on the previous menu), have been removed. This double bacon cheeseburger featured lettuce, tomato, and barbecue sauce. Replacing it is the Double Chili con Queso Burger, priced at $16.49. This new burger offers two flame-broiled all-beef patties topped with chili con carne, chipotle queso, and corn chips.

Additionally, the popular Fajita Platter ($15.49) has been discontinued. Instead, the new menu emphasizes more customizable "Create Your Own" options, including the Steamed Tamale, Nacho Bowl, Southwest Caesar Salad, and Rice Bowl, all priced at $12.99. Each bowl base can be customized with a protein choice of: Citrus-Chipotle Chicken, Green Chili Pork, Coca-Cola Cherry Braised Beef.

For plant-based eaters, the Grilled Masa Flatbread ($10.49) is a noteworthy new addition. Topped with sweet potatoes, pinto beans, plant-based pepper jack "cheese," shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, and lime crema, it broadens the variety of vegetarian-friendly choices available at Pecos Bill.

Several sides have been removed, including the chips and pinto beans. The Barbecue-Cheddar Seasoned Fries are new and priced at $4.99.

Price Adjustments

While the overall price points have remained largely the same, some minor increases can be found across the board. For instance, the Chicken Rice Bowl and Pork Carnitas Rice Bowl were previously priced at $12.29, but now similar options are priced at $12.99. These small increases are in line with other Disney dining price adjustments seen recently.

Dessert Changes: What's New and What's Gone

The updated dessert menu has seen a complete overhaul, introducing two new items:

Sweet Corn Mousse ($6.29) – This dessert is a standout with its combination of white chocolate and raspberry powder. The sweet corn flavor adds a unique twist, offering something different for guests looking to try a less conventional treat.

Mexican Chocolate and Horchata Verrine ($5.49) – Highlighting the Southwestern theme, this dessert blends the rich, dark flavors of Mexican chocolate with the creaminess of horchata.

These new additions come at the expense of several popular previous desserts, including Mini Churros and the Peach and Raspberry Trifle.

Kids' Menu Changes

The updated Kids' menu at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe brings a few notable changes compared to its previous offerings.

The new menu introduces the Chicken Nacho Bowl ($8.79) and Beef Nacho Bowl ($8.79) to the Kids' Meals lineup, offering a smaller portion of the adult nacho bowls, complete with two sides and a choice of small lowfat milk or bottled water. Additionally, the Chicken Rice Bowl ($8.49) remains similar to its previous iteration but is now categorized under the Disney Check Meals.

In comparison, the Cheeseburger ($8.49) remains unchanged from the old menu, with the same offering of two sides and a drink.

Several items from the previous Kids' menu have been removed, including the Beef Taco ($7.79) and Chicken Taco ($7.79), as well as the Veggie Rice Bowl ($7.49), which offered a lighter plant-based alternative. Also missing is the Kids' Pork Carnitas Rice Bowl ($8.49) and the classic Macaroni & Cheese ($6.99), which had been a go-to for picky eaters.

What toppings bar? You mean the free buffet? I wish they would bring that back.

Chi84Jul 30, 2025

My husband could do the same.

Basil of Baker StreetJul 30, 2025

Blame me. I could turn 1 meal into 2 with that toppings bar.

mf1972Jul 19, 2025

my wife & i were just talking about those recently. wasn’t a bad price from what i remember, & it was pretty filling depending on what you topped it off with.

I really miss the taco salad in the taco shell bowl and the ability to fill it with the salad bar items. It was my go to meal at MK. I also miss the hot cheese! Ah the good ol’ days!

there’s definitely something wrong with management at pecos specifically - the toppings bar should not look like that. Ever. Any manager who cared would have fixed that - simple decorations. The staff was very unorganized - I give them a little bit of a pass because I think several are new CP’s - but even then food was coming out and being left while workers stopped to chat in a group, tables were not being cleaned, I saw 2 CM’s walk by dirty tables and seats that were not tidy. There are serious issues here that are fortunately unique to this location - I haven’t seen this elsewhere.

Did it have the pictures of toppings in the bottom, like Cosmic Ray's?

If they're not bringing the toppings back, they should remove the bar. Like you said, leaving it there empty is "bad show". That sad-looking empty toppings bar brings me memories of better days at Pecos. Sigh.

Empty topping bar out in the open (bad show) - small portion for $13. Harbor House is the MK winner for sure. This ain’t it.

Looks like food you would get at school when they try to claim they are doing "mexican". A defrosted pulled pork, canned beans, canned veggies, and some shredded greens. Yeah that picture does the restaurant no favors. Im not exactly enthusiastic about that new menu either. The frito chili burger if those dimensions are correct looks more like a slider than a burger. Reminds me of something I had at the Sea World BBQ event but I bet the one I had there was a lot better than this one will be.

Wait! They got ride of the fajitas? Apparently they didn't update the site description: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/magic-kingdom/pecos-bill-tall-tale-inn-and-cafe/ (also that picture isn't doing the restaurant any favors)

NunuSep 19, 2024

Mr Nunu isn't happy about it either. 😕

You misunderstand me on an epic level. 🤣 I lament all the changes they have made but it all comes down to what disney chooses to keep and chooses to ignore which to me gets funnier the more I think about this. They had a successful water ride that was a beloved classic and replaced it because of what some people thought should be removed. Then they replaced it with a buggy attraction that seems to be even less enjoyable than the original. Then here they have a chance to turn a less than stellar restaurant into an awesome cajun restaurant which Im sure many of us would enjoy but instead they decided to go with a cheap tex mex knockoff menu with the name of the restaurant still being based on a chain smoking racist cowboy stereotype that many cowboys today would not be caught dead being associated with. To me its comical to say the least. Im not offended in the slightest but rather think its probably one of the silliest things disney has done in ages. Their last vestige of the old frontier land besides big thunder is a restaurant selling knockoff food based on a stereotype that disney can never merchandise because they are too afraid to get anyone angry. Its funny after all the things that could survive its THAT RESTAURANT which may be one of the last remaining things in frontier land. Even the shooting arcade was eliminated and that wasn't even racist.:facepalm:😆
