↩ replying to SpectroMagician:rolleyes: Yeah, it's the tax. Ridiculous statement.

↩ replying to SpectroMagicianNot that taxes really have anything to do with this, but NY state sales tax is actually 4%, while Florida state sales tax is 6%

To all of you offending the Jersey Shore and saying terrible things about a beautiful place: It is offensive, it is unnecessary, and it is also generic. It is not appropriate to be so negative about a terrific place to live, from someone who is a 4th generation local to a Jersey Shore barrier island. If you vacation in places that speak that disgust that is on you for choosing such a place. That is not the Jersey Shore that I live at. It is beautiful, quiet, full of life, and always fun.
It’s the same type of generalization against a group that should get you scolded- or banned. Stop other-ing people.

↩ replying to surfsupdonI always have nice things to say about the clam-diggers and bennies!

↩ replying to surfsupdonI grew up on one of those barrier islands and thought it was a great place to grow up...though a little lonely in the winter...and I hated having to take a bus from the end of the island we lived on all the way over to the mainland for Middle and High School... other than that. The Jersey Shore (especially during the time period I lived there ) was peaceful and beautiful and fun... We would drive to Seaside or one of the other resort towns for the amusements in the summer...but our island was pretty quiet.

↩ replying to MisterPenguinWhen we were little kids we would take our tiny Boston Whaler out to the sedge islands in Barnegat Bay and go clamming...we would sell the clams to either my grandmother or the seafood market in town... We were such young kids... I don't think any of us were over 10 and we went all by ourselves... We used to get 3 cents a clam....which was huge to us back then... it meant a trip to the arcade or amusement park...

↩ replying to ToTBellHopThat’s ok, nobody from NJ goes to Connecticut for Clam Chowder or Lobster Rolls…as a matter of fact I don’t know anyone who’s traveled to Connecticut unless they were passing through to get to Boston…
