Carol Stein, the pianist long associated with EPCOT, is bringing her music to Magic Kingdom at Casey's Corner starting today.

Stein announced her retirement from full-time performing on November 5, 2022. She had spent decades on Disney property, most recently as the resident EPCOT Pianist. Her return today, this time at Casey's Corner, gives guests a chance to catch her live again.

"Casey's Corner is such a joyful, high-energy place, and I'm thrilled to be part of it. At the same time, it feels a little like the first day of school," explained Carol. "Even after playing piano since I was — four years old, starting something new still comes with excitement and a few nerves. I've spent a lot of time preparing for this moment, learning new songs and revisiting favorites I haven't had the opportunity to play before. I'm excited to bring that music and energy to our guests."

Stein started playing piano at age two and began formal studies at four in her hometown of Miami. She earned her Master's Degree from the University of Florida. Along the way, she was recognized as a Steinway Artist and inducted into the Central Florida Jazz Hall of Fame.

Her career has taken her well beyond Florida. She's performed at:

  • The Montreux Palace in Switzerland
  • The Oasis in Hong Kong
  • Century Court in Tokyo
  • Walt Disney World in Orlando

She lived abroad for years, splitting time between Switzerland and Hong Kong, before returning to the U.S. to perform at Walt Disney World starting in 1990.

Since 1990, Stein has held several notable roles at Walt Disney World:

  • House musician with the Comedy Warehouse improv troupe at Pleasure Island
  • Resident musician at the Rose and Crown Pub in EPCOT's United Kingdom Pavilion
  • Resident EPCOT Pianist

Stein leads the Carol Stein & Friends Jazz Band, a group that has performed together for over 25 years with Eddie Marshall, Charlie Silva, and Barry Smith. The band's recordings appear on the Jazz Lady CD.

Off stage, Stein volunteers with several charitable organizations, including The Jewish Pavilion, Hadassah, Jewish Family Services, Give Kids the World, and The Steinway Society.

For those that don’t know let me just echo - Carol is a true WDW legend!

She used to play at the Rose & Crown and at Comedy Warehouse back in the day. Always was a delight.

I know she’s been playing at the Grand Floridian some but I’ve never gotten to catch her over there.

Her style isn’t really “ragtime” but I’m sure she will make it work! Haha.
Great talented addition to the MK.
Wow they still know how to make costumes designed for women rather than "no size fits any" recycled plastic potato sacks! Neat!

I didn’t realize they had infiltrated there too, how irritating

I remember hearing her play at R&C from time to time. Always enjoyable.
She's a powerhouse who deserves to be there. It brings up the honest question of Grayson who has been a fan favorite for the last few years. Is he still rotating in shifts at Caseys, cycling out to another area of WDW, moving on?

I know Grayson played at Hoop as well. I’m guessing / hoping he’s still the full time at Casey’s and Carol is just being added to the rotation?

Michael just made his debut at Casey’s a little while ago as well…. He was Jellyrolls and then has been filling in all over property.
I don't know if I'll ever get back to WDW but this news makes me SOOOOO happy!

Carol is a special part of Disney magic and to have her at the ragtime piano is just... perfect. ❤️

I would like to second this! She is absolutely a legend. Literally Worthy of a window on main Street.

I think he's still the full-time. Fingers crossed.
Hello from the aforementioned Michael!

-Grayson is still full-time there!
-Carol retired from full-time years ago, but she and I are now substitutes there as long-time Disney pianist Randy Morris recently retired and he was the sub at Casey’s Corner
-Carol deserves a WORLD of flowers as she is every bit as kind and gracious as she is talented and professional.
