Walt Disney World Railway static exhibit

The Walt Disney World Railroad will be out of service for an extended period as work continues on then construction of the Tron Coaster in Tomorrowland.

Cast Members at the railroad are suggesting the closure may be as long as two years, and until then, the Main Street U.S.A. station will serve as a static exhibit with one of the trains available for up-close viewing.

The Lilly Belle is currently in the station, with railroad Cast Members on hand to answer any questions.

At the other stations, signage is up letting guests know that the service is not available.

Synthetic ties are definitely the way to go. They’re made from recycled materials, they don’t contain the toxic chemicals that are extremely harmful to the environment that wooden ties contain, and they’re much more durable than wooden ties. Wooden ties normally last 20-25 years, synthetic ties last up to 50+ years. However, many railroads, including Class 1s, are sticking with wooden ties.

Yeah, they could do that.

And unlike concrete I think they ride like wood

Much longer lifespan.

What’s the reason for plastic ties instead of wood/concrete?

Can we at least get the RR back for the 50th?

Track work has resumed at Fantasyland Station. The new synthetic ties and the new rails are being laid down. Note the set of old tender wheels being used to set the gauge/width.

They don’t have that kind of forethought or vision anymore. Or semblance of a clue to just not do it in the first place. All aboard the Disney Woke Train!

I agree but if they are going to cave and do this, they should do it when they aren’t looking at closed parks around the globe lol

Not sure if someone answered this but now that the Tron building is sealed and work has stopped am I to presume any railroad work is also stopped and the WDW railroad will remain closed indefinitely too?
