Crews have pulled up the track at the Main Street, U.S.A. station as part of the Walt Disney World Railroad's current refurbishment. The work is replacing track that couldn't be swapped out last time around.

The railroad has been closed since September 28, with a return date of October 29, 2026.

During the railroad's previous refurbishment, the train sat on static display inside the Main Street Station. Because a train was parked on the track there, it could not be replaced.

What's Open and What's Not

  • The balcony outside the station remains open.
  • You can still walk into the train station itself.
  • The platform is closed, so you can't get close to the track work.

I was more asking about ‘normal’ service. The track is still complete from fantasyland through main street and up to Frontierland. Yes you can still only run one train but it is still possible.

They would need to add a place to water and service the locomotives.

Also, Martin and I believe others in the know said there were reasons they didn’t want to run in reverse from Frontierland to Main Street back when tron was under construction.

It’s certainly not impossible.
There are also capacity concerns having just one train shuttle through all 3 stops. And imagine explaining to a guest on MSUSA who wants to get up Fantasyland that they’ll go to Frontierland, back to MSUSA, and then up to Fantasyland.

It’d be a mess.
I wonder if they added water at Frontierland if they could shuttle two trains. They would have to coordinate to make sure that the MSUSA station was open ofc.

Not in 2026 they couldn’t. People would never understand.
