This weekend is your last chance to visit Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park before it closes for seasonal refurbishment. Typhoon Lagoon closes September 9, and no reopening date for 2027 has been announced yet.

Blizzard Beach will remain open and available throughout the closure.

What Changes Once Typhoon Lagoon Closes

  • Typhoon Lagoon will be unavailable starting September 9.
  • Blizzard Beach stays open as the water park option during this time.
  • The free water park admission perk for Disney Resort guests on check-in day will only apply to Blizzard Beach while Typhoon Lagoon is closed.
  • No word yet on a 2027 reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon. We'll update you as soon as Disney shares details.

If Typhoon Lagoon is on your list this trip, this weekend is the time to go. After that, Blizzard Beach is your only water park option until further notice.

Disney has announced Typhoon Lagoon will be temporarily closed for its seasonal break beginning September 9, 2026.
They seem to be going back to their old schedule, where they have both parks open during the busiest (and hottest) months of the year, then alternate closing one for annual refurbishment while always keeping one open (except if days get too cold). I think that makes sense. The problem was when they were in that cycle for a few post-Covid years of keeping one closed during the Summer. One water park is not enough capacity during the hottest months of the year.

Also closed starting in September due to lack of available qualified staffing.
