Walt Disney World has extended the closure of Typhoon Lagoon water park through Tuesday, February 3, with current plans to reopen Wednesday, February 4.
The water park was originally scheduled to close January 31 through February 2 but will now remain closed an additional day as extreme cold conditions continue across Central Florida.
Ongoing Freeze Warnings
The National Weather Service has issued another round of warnings for east central Florida:
Monday Morning, February 2:
- Extreme Cold Warning in effect through 10 AM
- Freeze Warning through 11 AM
- Temperatures in the mid to upper 20s
- Wind chills as low as 15 to 20 degrees
Monday Night Through Tuesday Morning:
- Another Freeze Warning issued for 11 PM Monday through 9 AM Tuesday
- Temperatures dropping to upper 20s to low 30s
- 30-50% chance of hard freeze conditions in normally colder areas
- Widespread frost expected across the region
High temperatures Monday will only reach the 50s, well below normal despite full sunshine. Tuesday's highs will climb into the 60s.
Temperature Outlook
Temperatures will briefly reach near-normal values by Wednesday, climbing into the 70s. However, another cold front arrives Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing cooler conditions again by late week.
The NWS notes that lows Thursday night could drop into the mid-30s to low 40s.
