Construction on Disney's Tropical Americas expansion at Animal Kingdom has made significant progress in recent weeks, with the carousel now clearly defined and framing underway on the entry village.
New aerial photos from @bioreconstruct show the Tropical Americas carousel foundation fully laid out. The circular yellow platform marking the carousel's footprint is visible from above, with crews actively working on the structure.
On the eastern side of the construction site, framing has begun on the entry village to Tropical Americas. Large walls are now standing, with rebar extending upward from the foundations. This area will eventually form part of Pueblo Esperanza - the lush, open-air town that serves as the gateway to the new land.
Disney has described Pueblo Esperanza as a sprawling village inspired by research trips to biodiverse regions of northern South America and Central America. The town will feature a central fountain, an open-air market, and a large hacienda-style quick-service restaurant that will be one of the largest at Walt Disney World.
The carousel is one of three attractions planned for the 11-acre Tropical Americas land. Disney has positioned it as a family-friendly take on a classic ride format, featuring hand-carved wooden animals from Disney stories. The theming centers on a fictional Esperanza resident who creates these intricate carvings.
The two other attractions joining the carousel are:
- A new Indiana Jones adventure set inside a Mayan temple, featuring a unique storyline different from other Indy attractions worldwide
- The first Encanto-themed attraction, where guests join the Madrigal family on the day Antonio receives his gift
Tropical Americas is set to open at Disney's Animal Kingdom in 2027.
