Visible progress is underway at Disney's Animal Kingdom as crews have begun disassembling TriceraTop Spin, the dinosaur-themed ride in Chester & Hester's Dino-Rama. Additionally, construction walls have replaced the temporary planters that initially blocked access to the closed area, signaling the start of more extensive work for the Tropical Americas expansion.

TriceraTop Spin's Final Days

The family-friendly attraction, known for its flying dinosaur vehicles, officially closed on January 12, 2025, along with the rest of Dino-Rama's attractions, including Fossil Fun Games and Dinosaur Treasures. Now, sections of the ride's structure have been removed.

Construction Walls Replace Temporary Barriers

In the day immediately following the closure, large planters were used as temporary barriers to block off the Dino-Rama area. Most of these planters have now been replaced with construction walls, enclosing the entire site and providing a more permanent perimeter for the upcoming redevelopment work.

Apparently Cars road rally will be trackless and with elevation changes.

Animal kingdom does need a more reliable family ride

I do think something like Mystic Manor would have been awesome but also know reliability with trackless isn't always that great and something with super high capacity and high reliability is probably the best for this situation

What i don't like about the trackless rides at WDW is how flat they are by necessity. Rise has the elevator and drop, which helps mitigate it, but I think you can do more with tracked vehicles like in little mermaid where you can gradually change elevation, go "up and down the stairs" and rotate the vehicles to focus where you want. Thats why I'm pumped this might be a modern take on the Figment system. I don't want them to rely on the same things as Rise does to achieve height changes. Trackless will get worn out as a concept if every new ride uses it in similar ways.

I t i think trackless could have worked but this would allow for more elaborate scenes

So most similar to Figment, but on a bigger scale? If so, that's awesome imo

Im personally hoping for something like Figment. Where you have 4-5 furniture vehicles on a track going room to room and allowing for a bit more show in each scene, but still keeping a high capacity(with enough cars). Or just a straight up omnimover like little mermaid. I think track less is nice, but i honestly think omnimover-like systems fit better with the Casita setting and more guest turnover

Well I mean, I was gonna suggest a much simpler solution. What omnimover?

TrainsOfDisney23 hours ago

That’s the definition of everything at a Disney theme park. Haha.

Cool idea but seems cost-prohibitive and not at all practical.

We do not talk about that scene!

With the exception of a Bruno scene it probably won’t be that dark
