Disney has updated its official "Coming to the Parks" webpage today, and one notable change has caught our attention — the 2027 opening date for Tropical Americas at Disney's Animal Kingdom is no longer mentioned.
The previous version of the page read:
"Tropical Americas: Pueblo Esperanza — Get ready to journey to an 11-acre, immersive land in 2027. This Village of Hope will feature an exciting Encanto attraction, an action-packed Indiana Jones attraction, a woodcarver-themed carousel and more."
The updated version now reads:
"Tropical Americas — Prepare for your journey to an 11-acre land. This village of hope will feature new attractions like the joyful Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto and action-packed Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent—plus a handcrafted El Carrusel de los Animalitos featuring wooden animal figures inspired by Disney and Pixar films."
The year is gone.
What Else Changed
The new copy also includes more detail about the land's attractions — including the official names revealed at D23 last month. The page now references Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto and Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent by name for the first time, and the carousel is now officially named El Carrusel de los Animalitos, described as featuring wooden animal figures inspired by Disney and Pixar films. The previous version referred to it simply as a "woodcarver-themed carousel."
Importantly, this is not a stale or partially updated page. The same update also added today's newly announced 2027 EPCOT festival dates, including the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival and the Festival of the Arts. The page is current and reflects the latest information Disney has published today — which makes the absence of the 2027 date for Tropical Americas all the more notable.
It is worth pointing out that the 2027 opening year does still appear on the Disney Parks Blog. The article "Discover the Newest Land at Disney's Animal Kingdom: Updates from Tropical Americas," published in late April 2026, continues to reference a 2027 opening. That article has not been updated. So while the forward-looking "Coming to the Parks" page no longer carries the date, it has not been scrubbed from Disney's published content entirely.
It may be nothing more than an omission — the page was clearly updated to reflect the new attraction names from D23, and the date may simply not have been carried over.
But sources familiar with the project tell WDWMAGIC that the timeline for Tropical Americas has always been described internally as very aggressive. It is a massive undertaking — an 11-acre land with two headline attractions, a carousel, a playground, a quick service restaurant, and a gift shop, all requiring an enormous amount of themed finish work still to be completed.
Construction progress has been impressive so far. Aerial photos over recent months have shown the Encanto show building advancing, Casa Madrigal foundations rising, the Indiana Jones temple facade well underway with pre-fabricated Mayan pyramid sections already installed, and village structures framing up across the site. But sources say that while things are moving well, hitting a 2027 opening remains a tight target.
Whether the removal of the date from Disney's website reflects a deliberate shift in how the company is communicating the timeline — or is simply a byproduct of a routine page update — is not clear. Disney has not made any statement about changes to the opening schedule.
