TRON Lightcycle Run construction - March 8 2021
Posted: Wednesday March 10, 2021 8:35am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Construction crews reached another milestone earlier this week by installing the highest point of the canopy structure that wraps around the front of TRON Lightcyle Run.

Workers can be seen all over the structure welding pieces in place as this stage of the build is nearing a close.

Although a delay to the opening of TRON has not been announced, we understand that once the canopy is complete in the early part of 2021, work will be suspended until October 2021, with an opening planned for 2022. The ride was originally expected to open in Spring 2021 and be the centerpiece of the Magic Kingdom 50th celebration.

I would imagine each panel is unique like the space shuttle tiles. It would suck to drop one.

I was thinking they're there to assist with installation. Something along the lines of a "safety net" in the event initial mounting fails. Looks somewhat similar here (like they were removed as the canopy was finalized): https://serra-k.com/disney

The netting is a similar color to the clear panels that will cover the canopy, maybe they decided to take the cheaper route here. ;)

I don't think they have anything like osha in china. Oh, the irony.

You said it. I wouldn’t be so daft.

To be honest we usually go October/November to catch HHN so less thunder and lightning than in the Summer. However anytime we're doing IOA, we do a weather check first.

Works for USO.

Yes let's put every attraction inside a building. 🙄.
