In this week's final series of aerial photos we have a look the construction taking place on Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Located behind the existing Toy Story Mania on much of the former Backlot Tour area, the 11-acre land will transport you into the adventurous outdoors of Andy’s backyard. In the image above, Toy Story Land is on the lower left, with the upcoming Star wars Land on the upper right.

The family coaster 'Slinky Dog Dash' features a coaster track that Andy has built all over his backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit.

On Slinky Dog Dash, you will zip, dodge and dash around many turns and drops that Andy has created to really make Slinky and his coils stretch to his limits.

The loading area, maintenance building and preparations for the track can be seen in the upper right side of the image below. The concept art above is viewed from a similar angle.

On the left side of the image above, will be the home of the land's second attraction - Alien Swirling Saucers. This spinning ride is designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, inspired by the first Toy Story film. Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture your rocket toy vehicle with “The Claw.”

Was this suppose to be your gotcha moment? 🤣 Does this show I said it was always shaded? - nope I responded to someone saying it was always in the sun - which it’s not. If asked for a receipt from Costco for a blender, you can’t show a receipt for a toaster at Wal-Mart and get your money back - good try though.

I didn't see anyone say that... I saw people saying that the seating area sometimes had shade during the day. I didn't see anyone say it was always shaded and that Disney shouldn't add more shade. Although please bring receipts if you have them.

Do you see where the sun is? It's morning. That's why no one's seated there eating. When the sun is high and more Southerly, the trees do give shade. I was there midday and it was very well shaded before the kites were installed. I didn't sit there because it was freezing cold and the seating area was going to be colder.

yeah, they do have some nice moments! The reason I consider them so different though is Six Flags when it comes to theming can do a decent bit of place making when they try but they don’t do a lot of storytelling. Whereas I feel Herschend does excellent place making, AND the theming also contributes to a story that a ride or in some cases a whole land is telling. I would at the end of the day classify Six Flags as still amusement parks that sometimes do themeing, but i’d fully call Dollywood and Silver Dollar City (Herschned of course has more but these are their Disneyland and WDW basically) theme parks.

Oh yeah, The Merger with Cedar Fair has been relatively good for the legacy Six Flags parks that had been suffering under Premier's ownership. Cedar Fair had in the last 2 decades begun investing more in the upkeep of their parks in terms of maintenance and park atmosphere. To sum it up Cedar Fair parks overall were nice looking, clean, and had decent food for regional parks. Legacy Six Flags parks however were suffering on all those fronts. Since the merger the company has gone into the Legacy Six Flags parks and have started to clean and update the crumbling infrastructure. However the ugly side of the merger has lead to several of the parks being sold off or closed due to massive debt. So its a double edge sword.
