Lots of progress is visible this week at Disney's Hollywood Studios as work continues on transforming the former Animation Courtyard into the new Walt Disney Studios area. Recent aerial photos from bioreconstruct on X show major landscaping and site-prep changes now underway.
The most noticeable update is the planting of new trees in the center of the courtyard space. Several mature trees are now in place where open pavement once dominated, marking the shift toward the greener, more studio-lot-inspired environment Disney has previewed in concept art. The trees appear positioned to anchor a central park-like gathering area that will serve as the heart of the reimagined land.
Across the site, large sections of old concrete have been fully removed. What was once a hardscaped courtyard is now largely bare earth, showing crews are deep into groundwork and infrastructure preparation. This phase typically precedes installation of new pathways, utilities, planters, and landscaping elements that will define the new guest flow.
Elsewhere in the area, the building that houses The Little Mermaid - A Musical Adventure has received a fresh paint scheme. The exterior now features two complementary shades of beige.
The new Walt Disney Studios area will eventually house The Magic of Disney Animation, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, and updated courtyard spaces inspired by the real Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.
