Test Track 3.0 Ride-Through

Walt Disney Imagineering has released a new behind-the-scenes video offering a closer look at some of the EPCOT history that can be found in the newly re-imagined Test Track 3.0. The latest version of the attraction pays tribute to its own past, as well as to classic EPCOT Center experiences.

In the video, Imagineer Dan walks through several details built into the new design:

  • Miniature Test Track Cars - Shelves feature small models, each representing a different iteration of Test Track since its debut in 1999. These serve as a direct nod to the attraction's evolution through its three versions.
  • World of Motion Props - Scattered across desks and shelves are items that reference World of Motion, the original pavilion attraction that Test Track replaced. Among them are a 1920s biplane, a riverboat, and a redesigned sea serpent, recreated using original drawings from the 1982 attraction.
  • Progress City Influence - The city scene inside the attraction draws inspiration from Walt Disney's original Progress City model. Imagineers placed the main Progress City building front and center, with surrounding architecture derived from the concept's early designs.

I really love some of what I’ve been seeing since Bruce Vaughn has returned to lead Imagineering. The public facing image seems more cohesive, organized and more engaged with fans. Having Rohde and other previous Imagineers back to provide mentorship, the restart of the Illusions Lab, and even things like the Imagineering YouTube Channel are all fantastic.

I am trying to avoid Test Track spoilers until I can ride it. I would would love to see this video though. Can I watch it and avoid spoilers or should I wait till after my trip?

I completely agree. It’s the best version of test track. We rode it for the first time this past weekend.
Totally old school Epcot. 👏 👏

In my opinion, its fine but its not the best.

TT 1.0 was the best and truly represented the name Test Track.
Has there ever been an attraction with as many extensive makeovers? I have a feeling I'll be taking my grandkids on TT 7 (Yeah, 7) .0 and spinning yarns about kiosks in the queue and rambling on about how version 5.3 was peak Test Track.

If You Wings/Dreamflight/Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin was the first thing to come to mind. I'm sure there's a couple more.

Yeah, forgot about If You Had Wings—a shocking ommision considering that little gem of a theme song.

It beats shoving the Cars IP in there.

Oh, heck yeah, it does! Good thinking. Maybe we should collectively abandon this whole discussion before it's too late.

As much as I love Test Track, I would trade it in 2 seconds for Radiator Springs Racers.

Maybe in a different park. RSR would be completely thematically inappropriate for EPCOT. Not that that has stopped them before.

It's not stopping them from putting Cars in Frontierland sooo... What did Unkie Joe say about theming versus decorating or something akin to that? At this point, I have no idea what the theme of Epcot's front door is anyway, so I guess anything goes.

I agree. As far as the upper brass at Disney is concerned "Theme" and "Story" are far less important than "Promotion" and "Money". Might as well make all the parks as indistinguishable as Six Flags while they are at it.
See, the logo is not just in the outside loop!!!...
