Shaded Seating Area Complete Between Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land
Posted: Friday March 27, 2026 9:12am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

The shade canopies at the new seating area between Star Wars Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios are now complete.

The seating area opened several weeks ago with tables, benches, and electrical outlets. Disney then began adding the metal framework for shade structures, and has now completed the installation of the fabric canopies.

This project is one of several recent upgrades to guest amenities in this section of Hollywood Studios. Disney has also opened a new popcorn kiosk in Toy Story Land and expanded seating at Woody's Lunchbox.

The location addresses a long-standing shortage of rest areas in Toy Story Land. You can find the seating area at the border between Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land.

It is genuinely ridiculous. I’m in favor of a Tropical Pacific type of land with Lilo and Stitch, The Incredibles, and Moana to knock out some of their big IPs and to give the park a totally different land stylistically and ride-wise.

1. I didn’t have a question. 2. My post was responding to this below, which was and is factually incorrect.

I was literally just answering your question. Those were the discussions.

Was this suppose to be your gotcha moment? 🤣 Does this show I said it was always shaded? - nope I responded to someone saying it was always in the sun - which it’s not. If asked for a receipt from Costco for a blender, you can’t show a receipt for a toaster at Wal-Mart and get your money back - good try though.

Thanks. I wasn't going to bother. 😂 I wrongly assumed they had read the entire thread.

Was only a couple of posts but here… And…

I didn't see anyone say that... I saw people saying that the seating area sometimes had shade during the day. I didn't see anyone say it was always shaded and that Disney shouldn't add more shade. Although please bring receipts if you have them.

Oh, now they want to throw shade!

Do you see where the sun is? It's morning. That's why no one's seated there eating. When the sun is high and more Southerly, the trees do give shade. I was there midday and it was very well shaded before the kites were installed. I didn't sit there because it was freezing cold and the seating area was going to be colder.

Yes this is perfect and it’s something I wish they’d do more of

yeah, they do have some nice moments! The reason I consider them so different though is Six Flags when it comes to theming can do a decent bit of place making when they try but they don’t do a lot of storytelling. Whereas I feel Herschend does excellent place making, AND the theming also contributes to a story that a ride or in some cases a whole land is telling. I would at the end of the day classify Six Flags as still amusement parks that sometimes do themeing, but i’d fully call Dollywood and Silver Dollar City (Herschned of course has more but these are their Disneyland and WDW basically) theme parks.

Oh yeah, The Merger with Cedar Fair has been relatively good for the legacy Six Flags parks that had been suffering under Premier's ownership. Cedar Fair had in the last 2 decades begun investing more in the upkeep of their parks in terms of maintenance and park atmosphere. To sum it up Cedar Fair parks overall were nice looking, clean, and had decent food for regional parks. Legacy Six Flags parks however were suffering on all those fronts. Since the merger the company has gone into the Legacy Six Flags parks and have started to clean and update the crumbling infrastructure. However the ugly side of the merger has lead to several of the parks being sold off or closed due to massive debt. So its a double edge sword.

Well still some bright spots since then - the redo of the monster plantation for example.

Those areas were built when Six Flags was under more direct control of Time Warner. Once they sold their parks to Premier Parks in 1998 is generally when the quality of the parks overall went into the toilet.
