Star Wars BDX Droids Now Appearing at Walt Disney World's Galaxy's Edge for Limited Time This Summer

Starting today, guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios can encounter the expressive, interactive BDX droids inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge - but only for a limited time.

When and Where to Find the BDX Droids at Walt Disney World

The droids will be roaming or stationed in three key areas throughout Galaxy’s Edge:

  • Near Droid Depot - 10:30am, 11:30am and 12:30pm
  • Near the Millennium Falcon - 3:00pm, 4:00pm, and 5:00pm
  • Roaming near the TIE Echelon - 6:00pm

These droids, first seen at Disneyland last year, feature expressive head movements, quirky personalities, and reactive behaviors powered by cutting-edge robotics developed by Walt Disney Imagineering.

The current lineup includes droids like Grek, Red, Besh, and Oskar, each with their own unique mannerisms and reactions to guests. These appearances mark the first time the BDX droids have been seen regularly at Walt Disney World.

The BDX droids are only scheduled to appear through August 30, so fans visiting this summer have a limited window to experience them in person.

Gonna need a lot of trash bags...lol
Shoulda been a desert planet.
Do we know how long these guys are sticking around?
I wonder what the social media influencer to actual guest ratio was for this PR stunt?

Gone, put in the trash bags and are now headed for the compactor at Runaway Railroad.
So I leave on Tuesday and they debut these on Wednesday. Sounds about right.

Until August 30th.

Bummer, we'll miss this by just a few hours on it's last day.

Why is this limited to just Summer? Should be a permanent thing.

I have no idea as the original plan was to have both characters and droids wandering every day as part of the atmosphere.
Imma say it since no one else will. These things are lame. About as entertaining as watching a duck cross a road. Now, show me them recognizing colors or faces or interacting in any real, meaningful way and I'll change my tune.

Lame robotic ducks.

I have to admit that I’m also underwhelmed. At first are they fun to watch? Absolutely. But will I be inclined to stick around for 5-10 minutes, possibly in 100 degree heat? Nope.

They’re doing their best to act like this is unscripted by involving guests, but they quickly pivot to something that is clearly already planned. They are certainly impressive technology, just not yet enough to be a long term offering.

The plastic bags followed by carrying them out was hilarious and embarrassing at the same time!
