Walt Disney Imagineering Files New Permit for Spaceship Earth at EPCOT

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new Notice of Commencement for Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, pointing to upcoming signage work at the attraction.

The permit is assigned to Kentavo, a contractor regularly used by WDI for signage projects across Walt Disney World. The listed scope of work is simply "install signage." No further details have been released about what the new sign is or where it will be located.

What the sign will say, where it will go, and when the work is scheduled to take place remains unknown for now.

The weird thing to me is with the 2007 re-do they debuted that new logo which looked like SSE being sucked into a vortex while hypothetically the original circular logo has been back in use since the beginning of this decade. The reason I bring this up is because the current marquee still features the 2007 "vortex" logo. I am aware that it was supposed to change again the year Covid happened and that (Thankfully) didn't happen, but I wonder if there is a connection here?

My wild guess is that once the panel refurb on Project Tomorrow is complete, they'll install a clean Geo-82 sign. And they've just held out this long knowing they were gonna be doing this panel work at some point. No point advertising for Project Tomorrow anymore (in my opinion), it doesn't seem like anything anyone goes out of their way to check out

I know we're hoping its a sign, no pun intended, that Spaceship Earth will be getting its needed refurb, but could it just be an outdoor sign for Geo-82 to get guests into the lounge and finding it?
