There are now 29 'Points of Light' in position on Spaceship Earth as part of the 'Beacon of Magic' lighting show coming to EPCOT later in 2021.
This second set joins the original 12 lights in the same position on the south east side of Spaceship Earth, near to Guest Relations.
Debuting as part of Disney World's 50th anniversary celebration on October 1 2021, the new lighting at Spaceship Earth is a permanent addition and will live on beyond the 18 month 50th celebration event.
The impact on the view from the ground remains minimal, despite doubling the number of lights.
Concept art of the lighting shows what we can expect when the effect goes live later this year. According to Imagineer Zach Riddley, "Her classic look will be maintained and accentuated through new colors and intensity in programmed expressions that extend into the new main entrance fountain and the entire World Celebration area."
